People's Square Station (Shanghai Metro)
People's Square () is a large interchange station of the Shanghai Metro, located below People's Square, also next to People's Park and Nanjing Road, in the city center of Shanghai. The station is one of the busiest metro stations in mainland China, handling a daily traffic of over 700,000 passengers. The opening of the downtown sections of Lines 12 and 13 in late December 2015 has allowed for alternative routes around the station, reducing the daily traffic by around 10%. The station is an interchange between Lines 1, 2 and 8, making it an important interchange station boasting close to twenty exits. This station is exceptionally busy because of a unique combination of it being an interchange between a west-east and north-south line, as well as being surrounded by office buildings, shopping malls and several tourist attractions. Huangpu District, Shanghai
Huangpu District (), makes up the eastern part of Shanghai's traditional urban core and is today the most central of Shanghai's 16 districts. Huangpu district is the seat of municipal government, includes key attractions such as The Bund and the Old City God Temple, as well as popular shopping districts such as Nanjing Road, Huaihai Road and Xintiandi. The Huangpu District is one of the most densely populated urban districts in the world. Fuzhou (; , Fuzhounese: Hokchew, ''Hók-ciŭ''), alternately romanized as Foochow, is the capital and one of the largest cities in Fujian province, China. The first line to open in the Shanghai Metro system, line 1 serves many important points in Shanghai, including and Xujiahui. Line 8 is a north-south line of the Shanghai Metro network. It runs from , in Yangpu District to , in Minhang. The line is colored on system maps. History The subway line's first phase began trial operation on September 17, 2007 and officially opened on December 29, 2007, running between and . The second phase, from Yaohua Road to began operation on July 5, 2009. Two stations opened later than the rest of the line: in September 2012 and opened in April 2011. The Taiwan Strait Tourism Association (TSTA; ) is a semi-official representative office of the Republic of China in Mainland China handling tourism-related affairs. Huaihai Road or Huaihai Lu (; Shanghainese: ''Wahae Lu'') is a road in Shanghai, China. The central section of Huaihai Road is one of the two major shopping streets in central Shanghai; the other is Nanjing Road. Yan'an (; ), alternatively spelled as Yenan is a prefecture-level city in the Shaanbei region of Shaanxi province, China, bordering Shanxi to the east and Gansu to the west. Shanghai Concert Hall
Cadillac·Shanghai Concert Hall is located on the intersection of Yan'an Road and South Tibet Road of Huangpu District, Shanghai. It was founded in 1930 as Nanking Theatre. In 1949, its name was changed to Beijing Cinema. In 1959, it was renamed Shanghai Concert Hall. The hall can accommodate 1,122 seats, 640 on the ground floor and 482 on the second floor. The stage is 8.35 metres by 16 metres, covering around 100 sq. metres. The Concert Hall was designed by Chinese architect Fan Wenzhao (范文照) in European style. Island Platforms
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location.
