People's Party (Armenia)
The People's Party ( hy, Ժողովրդական Կուսակցություն, Zhoghovrdakan Kusaktsutyun) is a political party in Armenia which was founded in 1995. History The party participated in the 1995 Armenian parliamentary election, winning just 0.9% of the popular vote. In the 2007 Armenian parliamentary elections, the party ran independently and gained 2.74% of the popular vote but failed to win any seats in the National Assembly. The party nominated Karapetyan as its candidate in the 2008 Armenian presidential election. He came in sixth place, receiving 0.60% of the vote. The party participated in the 2009 Yerevan City Council election, gaining 2.15% of the vote, but failing to win any seats in the Yerevan City Council. Prior to the 2012 Armenian parliamentary election, party leader Tigran Karapetyan claimed that his party would win seats, however, the party won just 0.58% of the popular vote following the election. Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP; hy, Բարգավաճ Հայաստան կուսակցություն, Bargavatch Hayastan kusaktsut’yun, abbreviated as ԲՀԿ BHK), is a conservative political party in Armenia. It was founded by businessman Gagik Tsarukyan on 30 April 2004, when the constituent congress of the party took place. Ideologically, the party is positioned as centre-right on the political spectrum, it advocates economic liberalism, closer ties with Russia, and regarding the European Union it is eurosceptic, while on social issues they are traditionalist. Armenia's second president Robert Kocharyan was instrumental in creation of the party (some claiming Kocharyan himself established it). 2018 Armenian Parliamentary Election
Snap parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on 9 December 2018, as none of the parties in the National Assembly were able to put forward and then elect a candidate for Prime Minister in the two-week period following the resignation of incumbent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on 16 October. They were the first elections after the 2018 revolution and the country's first-ever snap elections. The result was a landslide victory for Pashinyan's My Step Alliance, which received 70% of the vote and won 88 of the 132 seats in the National Assembly.
