People's Liberation Movement (El Salvador)
The People's Liberation Movement ( es, Movimiento de Liberación Popular) was a revolutionary multisectoral mass organisation, politically tied to the Revolutionary Party of Central American Workers in El Salvador. The organisation was formed after a split from Unified Popular Action Front in May 1975 as League for Liberation (''Liga para la Liberación''). The main leaders of the organisation at the time were Manuel Federico Castillo, Nidia Diaz, Francisco Veliz and Humberto Mendoza. The movement was reorganised in 1979, as Brigadas de Trabajadores del Campo, Brigadas Revolucionaria de Estudiantes de Secundaria and Comités de Base Obrera were formed as separate sectoral organisations. The League was replaced with MLP, which constituted of these sectoral organisations. Revolutionary Party Of Central American Workers
The Revolutionary Party of Central American Workers ( es, Partido Revolucionario de los Trabajadores Centroamericanos, PRTC) was a political party in Central America. Ideology The group that founded the PRTC was inspired by Marxism-Leninism, Che Guevara and the experiences of the Vietnamese national liberation struggle. The party was accused of Trotskyism by other revolutionary groups, an accusation that the party rejected. History The PRTC was founded in 1975, by a sector that had left the ERP-RN after the 1972 elections. Clandestine pre-congress meetings for the founding of PRTC were held in Costa Rica, Honduras and El Salvador in 1975. Provisional 'Zonal Leaderships' were formed in these countries. The party also formed cells in Mexico and the United States. Contacts were established with activists in Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama. El Salvador (; , meaning " The Saviour"), officially the Republic of El Salvador ( es, República de El Salvador), is a country in Central America. The major action in its history was a January 22, 1980, demonstration, in commemoration of the 1932 Salvadoran peasant uprising. Between 200,000 and 350,000 people took to the streets this day in a country with just 5 million inhabitants. The security forces attacked the march with snipers located in the National Palace and other buildings in downtown San Salvador against the contingents of Frente de Acción Popular Unificado (United Popular Action Front) (FAPU) and Unión Democrática Nacionalista.
