People's Liberal Democratic Party
The People's Liberal Democratic Party (abbreviation: PLDP) is a dormant political party in Singapore. It was formed by Ooi Boon Ewe, an independent candidate in the 2001 general election in Singapore. The party was approved in the midst of the 2006 general election hustling, but was days late for nomination. Ooi Boon Ewe
Stephen Ooi Boon Ewe (; born 14 November 1941) is a Singaporean politician and a perennial candidate. He is most notable for attempting to contest various elections, general and presidential, without a record of success. He attempted to contest presidential elections in 1999, 2005, 2011 and 2017. However, in each instance his application for the Certificate of Eligibility was rejected, due to reasons such as not finding assentors to sponsor him, and incomplete nomination forms. Life Ooi was reportedly a former private tutor and property executive. Politics Ooi entered the political arena in the presidential elections in 1999. He submitted eligibility forms to the Elections Department who later declined to issue a certificate of eligibility. Sengkang West Single Member Constituency was a single member constituency located in the north-eastern region of Singapore. The constituency covers the western area of Sengkang, between Sengkang East Road and Fernvale Road. In 2011, the constituency was formed by carving out a ward from Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency (GRC). In 2015, part of the constituency, part of Fernvale, was carved out and merged back into Ang Mo Kio GRC. 2011 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on 7 May 2011. President S. R. Nathan dissolved parliament on 19 April 2011 on the advice of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
