The People's Committee to Protect Ukraine ( uk, Народний комітет захисту України) was a political movement in Ukraine formed May 2010. The committee intended to hold a mass protest political campaign, campaign in Ukraine against the policies of Ukrainian President, President Viktor Yanukovych, who ultimately fled amid violence in 2014. Presidential elections were held in Ukraine on 17 January 2010. As no candidate received a majority of the vote, a run-off election was held between Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and opposition leader Viktor Yanukovych on 7 February. Viktor Yushchenko
Viktor Andriyovych Yushchenko ( uk, Віктор Андрійович Ющенко, ; born 23 February 1954) is a Ukrainian politician who was the third president of Ukraine from 23 January 2005 to 25 February 2010. As an informal leader of the Ukrainian opposition coalition, he was one of the two main candidates in the 2004 Ukrainian presidential election.
