The Ministry of Meat and Dairy Industry (Minmyasomolprom; russian: Министерство мясной и молочной промышленности) was a government ministry in the Soviet Union. History The People's Commissariat of Meat and Dairy Industry USSR was established as a union-republic people's commissariat by ukase of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet USSR, dated 19 January 1939, which provided for the division of the People's Commissariat of Food Industry USSR into people's commissariats of food, fish, and meat and dairy industries. Sergei Antonov (Bulgarian: Сергей Антонов) (11 July 1948 – 1 August 2007) was a Bulgarian airline representative accused of involvement in an assassination attempt against Pope John Paul II by Mehmet Ali Ağca in 1981. Antonov, who worked as a Rome-based representative for Balkan Airlines, Bulgaria's national airline, was arrested in 1981 by Italian authorities and charged with complicity after the assassination attempt against Pope John Paul II by Turkish national Ağca on May 13, 1981. Pope John Paul II was seriously wounded but survived the shooting. Antonov was placed on trial in Italy with three Turks and two other Bulgarians for the attack against the Pope. Ağca named Antonov as his co-conspirator before his conviction for attempted murder. The case against Antonov fell apart. Pavel Smirnov (russian: Павел Смирнов; born 27 April 1982 in Mezhdurechensk) is a Russian chess Grandmaster. Chess career In 2001 he was a member of the Russian junior team in the first China vs Russia match that took place in Shanghai. Smirnov finished runner-up in the 2002 Russian Chess Championship. In 2004 Smirnov reached the fourth round of the FIDE World Chess Championship, where he lost to Teimour Radjabov and therefore was eliminated from the competition.
