Pentre Bach
''Pentre Bach'' ("Little Village") is a Welsh language television soap-opera for young children, shown on S4C as part of the daily '' Planed Plant Bach'' ("Little Children's Planet") block. The series is based on the characters created by Mary Vaughan Jones, the main character is Sali Mali. It first aired on 6 September 2004. It is filmed in the village of Blaenpennal, which lies some 14 miles (22.5 km) south of Aberystwyth in Ceredigion. Planed Plant Bach
Rural community development encompasses a range of approaches and activities that aim to improve the welfare and livelihoods of people living in rural areas. Mary Vaughan Jones
Mary Vaughan Jones (28 May 1918–April/May/June 1983) was a celebrated Welsh children's author and schoolteacher. She was born at 'Firs Cottage', Maenan near Llanrwst in 1918, and died in the Rhuddlan area, Clwyd in 1983. Jones authored approximately 20 books, contributing regularly to children's literature in Wales, and the magazines of the Urdd. Many of her books have been re-published by Gymdeithas Lyfrau Ceredigion. Many new books are based on her characters, for example: ''Sali Mali a'r Ceffyl Gwyllt'', Dylan Williams, 2006. Various children's television programmes and merchandise connected to her characters have also been produced by S4C. The original illustrations in her books were the work of Rowena Wyn Jones and later, Jac Jones. Sali Mali is a popular Welsh children's book and television character, originally created by author Mary Vaughan Jones and illustrated by Rowena Wyn Jones during the 1960s and 1970s. Aberystwyth
Aberystwyth () is a university and seaside town as well as a community in Ceredigion, Wales. Located in the historic county of Cardiganshire, means "the mouth of the Ystwyth". Aberystwyth University has been a major educational location in Wales since the establishment of University College Wales in 1872. Ceredigion
Ceredigion ( , , ) is a county in the west of Wales, corresponding to the historic county of Cardiganshire. During the second half of the first millennium Ceredigion was a minor kingdom. A puppet is an object, often resembling a human, animal or Legendary creature, mythical figure, that is animated or manipulated by a person called a puppeteer. Jackdaws are two species of bird in the genus ''Coloeus'' closely related to, but generally smaller than, the crows and ravens (''Corvus''). S4C Original Programming
S4C (, ''Sianel Pedwar Cymru'', meaning ''Channel Four Wales'') is a Welsh language free-to-air Public service broadcasting in the United Kingdom, public broadcast television channel. Launched on 1 November 1982, it was the first television channel to be aimed specifically at a Welsh-speaking audience.
