Penrhiwceiber (electoral Ward)
Penrhiw-ceibr (formerly Penrhiwceiber) is the name of an electoral ward in the Cynon Valley, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Its boundaries are coterminous with the village and community of Penrhiwceiber. The ward elects two councillors to Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. Background Penrhiwceiber was created in 1898 as a ward to Mountain Ash Urban District Council. Penrhiwceiber was a ward to Cynon Valley Borough Council from 1973, electing two district councillors until 1983 when the representation increased to four councillors. In 1988 a county ward of Penrhiwceiber was created, electing one councillor to Mid Glamorgan County Council at the 1989 and 1993 elections. Since 1995 the ward has elected two county councillors to Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. 2022 Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council Election
The 2022 Rhondda Cynon Taf election took place on 5 May 2022 to elect 54 members across 46 wards to Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. On the same day, elections were to the other 21 local authorities and to community councils in Wales as part of the 2022 Welsh local elections. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association. The Cynon Valley Party
The Cynon Valley Party (Welsh: ''Plaid Cwm Cynon'') is a political party formed in 2016 to campaign for people living in the Cynon Valley, including the towns of Aberdare and Mountain Ash, in Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales. The party won a council seat on Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council in May 2017. The Cynon Valley Party was founded in September 2016 by two Aberdare businessmen, Andrew Chainey and Graham Marsh. It was registered with the Electoral Commission on 13 September 2016. The party held its first meeting on 20 September, with membership open to anyone concerned about local issues affecting the Cynon Valley, regardless of their support of the wider policies of national parties. 2022 Welsh Local Elections
The 2022 Welsh local elections are due to be held on 5 May 2022 to elect members of all twenty-two local authorities in Wales. They are being held alongside other local elections in the United Kingdom. The last elections were held in 2017. Background In the last local elections in 2017, 1,271 seats were elected. The Labour Party won 468 seats, independent candidates won 309 seats, Plaid Cymru won 208 seats, the Conservative Party won 184 seats and the Liberal Democrats won 63 seats. Other parties including the Green Party won 22 seats. The Local Democracy and Boundary Commission for Wales ( cy, Comisiwn Ffiniau a Democratiaeth Leol Cymru) is a Welsh Government sponsored body, responsible for defining borders for local elections and government in Wales. Cynon Valley
Cynon Valley () is a former coal mining valley in Wales. Cynon Valley lies between Rhondda and the Merthyr Valley and takes its name from the River Cynon. Aberdare is located in the north of the valley and Mountain Ash is in the south of the valley. From 1974 to 1996 Cynon Valley was a local government district. According to the 2001 census, the Cynon Valley has a population of 63,512. In 2001 12.1% of the inhabitants were recorded as Welsh speakers.
