Pennard is the name of an electoral ward in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, United Kingdom. It is coterminous with the community of Pennard. The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following places: Bishopston, Fairwood Common, Kittle, Parkmill, Pennard and Southgate in the parliamentary constituency of Gower. Part of Three Cliffs Bay falls within the ward. Pennard is bounded by the wards of Gower to the west; Fairwood to the north and Bishopston to the east. The Bristol Channel borders Pennard to the south. Pennard also elects a community council. For electoral purposes to Pennard Community Council, Pennard is divided into the polling wards of Southgate and Kittle. Parkmill
The village of Parkmill ( cy, Melin y Parc) is a small rural settlement in the Gower Peninsula, South Wales, midway between the villages of Penmaen and Ilston, about eight miles (13 km) west of Swansea, and about one mile (1.5 km) from the north coast of the Bristol Channel. The village lies to the north of the A4118, the main South Gower road between Swansea and Port Eynon, in a wooded area, at the bottom of a valley. The building at the centre of the village is a former school that is now home to the West Glamorgan Girl Guides Activity Centre. Pennard golf course lies immediately to the south of the village. Parkmill is in the Gower ward of the City and County of Swansea. Parkmill's only religious building is the Mount Pisgah United Reformed Church, a Congregational chapel, erected in 1822 and rebuilt in 1890. The fifth election to the City and County of Swansea Council was held in May 2012. It was preceded by the 2008 election and will be followed by the 2017 election. Bristol Channel
The Bristol Channel ( cy, Môr Hafren, literal translation: "Severn Sea") is a major inlet in the island of Great Britain, separating South Wales from Devon and Somerset in South West England. It extends from the lower estuary of the River Severn ( cy, Afon Hafren) to the North Atlantic Ocean. It takes its name from the English city of Bristol, and is over 30 miles (50 km) wide at its western limit. Long stretches of both sides of the coastline are designated as Heritage Coast. The ward is named after the village (and coterminous community) of Bishopston which falls within the ward. Three Cliffs Bay
Three Cliffs Bay () (), otherwise Three Cliff Bay, is a bay on the south coast of the Gower Peninsula in the City and County of Swansea, Wales. The bay takes its name from the three sea cliffs that jut out into the bay. Pennard Pill, a large stream, flows into the sea in the middle of the bay. The beach is an important asset for locals and visitors and routinely qualifies for Blue Flag status. Dogs are allowed on the beach all year. Inland about from the main beach on high ground above Pennard Pill is Pennard Castle. It was built in the early 12th century, and is imbued with legends of fairies. It is also the only locality in Britain known for yellow whitlow grass (''Draba aizoides''). Individual beaches that make up this bay have their own names, including Pobbles Bay to the east of the Three Cliffs, and Tor Bay to the west. Southgate, Swansea
Southgate is a village in the community of Pennard on the Gower Peninsula, Swansea, Wales. It is also a community electoral ward for Pennard Community Council. The population in 2011 was 2,004., making up most of the population of the community. Description The village is located between Pennard Golf Course and the cliffs of the Gower coast. The village comprises largely of modern twentieth and twenty-first century housing, but includes a variety of shops, a post office, a social club (The Southgate) and Pennard Golf Club at the northern end. Southgate has some of the most expensive housing in the area, with average house prices in the village of £366,000 in 2018. In July 2017 a bungalow sold for £735,000 and another for £660,000, two of the three most expensive properties sold in the county in that month.
