Penn State Nittany Lions Women's Soccer
The Penn State Nittany Lions women's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team at Pennsylvania State University. The team is a member of the Big Ten Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The Nittany Lions play at Jeffrey Field in State College, Pennsylvania on the campus of Pennsylvania State University. The formation of a women's soccer program at Pennsylvania State University began with the creation of ''Penn State Women's Club Soccer'' in 1977 by the ''International Soccer Club'' at Pennsylvania State University. The team's creation was a response to women being excluded from playing on intramural soccer teams at the university. The club would go on to compete in international tours and gain national recognition all while competing without the support of the university. Erica Dambach
Erica Marie Dambach (; born November 16, 1975) is an American college soccer coach. She is the head coach of Penn State Nittany Lions women's soccer. She led Penn State to the 2015 National Championship. She is a two-time NSCAA Coach of the Year, winning the award in 2012 and 2015. Coaching career She was the head coach at Dartmouth from 2000 to 2002, resigning following the 2002 season in order to pursue educational opportunities. After serving as an assistant coach at Lehigh, she was hired as an assistant coach at Florida State in January 2005. She was hired as head coach at Harvard prior to the 2006 season. Christie Renee Welsh (born February 27, 1981) is an American former soccer player who played as a forward. She previously played for the New York Power of Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) as well as the Los Angeles Sol, Saint Louis Athletica, and Washington Freedom of Women's Professional Soccer (WPS). She is also a former member of the United States women's national soccer team. Indoor soccer or arena soccer (known internationally as indoor football, fast football, or showball) is five-a-side version of minifootball, derived from association football and adapted to be played in walled hardcourt indoor arena. The Penn State Nittany Lions men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of Pennsylvania State University. The team is a member of the Big Ten Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Penn State's intercollegiate soccer program began in 1911 and has won or shared 11 national championships and 6 conference tournament championships. In 1959, the team joined the National Collegiate Athletic Association when it added men's soccer to its program and in 1987 joined the Atlantic 10 Conference as a charter member. Grier School (also known as The Grier School for Girls) is an independent all-girls college-preparatory boarding school in Tyrone, Pennsylvania in the United States.
