Penedo da Saudade, previously known as ''Pedra dos Ventos'' (Boulder of the Winds) is a historical public garden in Coimbra, Portugal. The garden has partial views of Coimbra skyline and the Coimbra City Stadium. A long winding walkway leads down the hill through a wooded area, from the main section of the garden all the way down to Infanta Dona Maria street. History Removed Monuments Beyond the many stone slabs with poems and songs from past students of the University, the garden also is also home to three monuments: A statue depicting Portuguese poet and educationalist João de Deus João is the Portuguese equivalent of the given name John. Penedo is a municipality in the state of Alagoas in Brazil. The population is 63,846 (2020 est.) in an area of . Penedo lies south-west of the state capital of Maceió. History Founded in 1614, Penedo has many important examples of Portuguese and Dutch colonial architectures. The history of Penedo can be found in Francisco Alberto Sales's book ''Arruando para o Forte''. It was reached by sea from the wide estuary of the São Francisco River. The unclassified extinct Wakoná language was formerly spoken in Penedo. Loukotka (1968) reported that the remaining ethnic descendants who speak only Portuguese could be found in the city of Porto Real do Colégio. João de Deus de Nogueira Ramos (8 March 1830 – 11 January 1896), better known as João de Deus, was a Portuguese poet, pedagogue and editor who turned his attention to Portuguese educational problems and wrote the famous didactic book ''Cartilha Maternal'' (1876), used to teach Portuguese language during both the 19th and 20th centuries across the country. António Nobre
António Pereira Nobre (16 August 1867 – 18 March 1900) was a Portuguese poet. His masterpiece, '' Só'' (Paris, 1892), was the only book he published.
