Pedro Lopes De Sousa
Pedro Lopes de Sousa ( Bordonhos, Portugal - Danture, present day Sri Lanka, 1594) was the 1st Governor of Portuguese Ceylon. The office of Captain-major was abolished in 1594 and de Sousa was appointed in the same year under Philip I of Portugal. He died that year in the Campaign of Danture. Biography He was the second-born son of Diogo Lopes de Sousa, lord of the town of Bordonhos and of the Patronage of its Churches and of his wife and cousin, Dona Isabel de Sousa. He made his career in the Portuguese Estado da India, where he served as captain of Malacca. Kusumasana Devi
Kusumāsana Devi (died 10 July 1613), also known as , was ruling King of Kandy, Queen of Kandy in 1581. She was deposed, but queen consort of Kandy by marriage to Vimaladharmasuriya I of Kandy from 1594 to 1604. Vasai (Konkani and Marathi pronunciation: əsəi formerly and alternatively Mahratti; ''Bajipur'', English: Bassein; Portuguese: Baçaim), is a historical place and City near Mumbai (Bombay)'s western suburbs, located in Palghar district which was partitioned from the Thane district in 2014. Vimaladharmasuriya I Of Kandy
Vimaladharmasūriya I was a king of Kandy from 1590 to 1604. His reputation was built when he successfully repulsed two major Portuguese offensives on Kandy, the Battle of Danture in 1594 and the Battle of Balana in 1602, in both of which the Portuguese were humiliatingly defeated. Origin Name Vimaladharmasuriya I is referred to by four names by different sources. Rajavaliya mentions his early name as Konappu Bandara and says he is the son of a Kandyan chieftain, Weerasundara Bandara of Peradeniya. Reports of early Dutch visitors Sebald de Veert and Joris van Spilbergen mention him as Don João da Austria.
