Peasant Workers' Bloc
The Peasant Workers' Bloc ( ro, Blocul Muncitoresc-Țărănesc, BMȚ) was a political party in Romania that acted as a front group for the banned Romanian Communist Party (PCR). History In the 1926 elections the BMȚ received 1.5% of the vote, failing to win a seat. The 1927 elections saw the party's vote share fall to 1.3%, again failing to win a seat. Although the 1928 elections saw their vote increase to 1.4%, they remained seatless. The 1931 elections were the party's breakthrough, winning five seats in the Chamber of Deputies with 2.5% of the vote. The parliament refused to validate the elections of the five deputies and none of them served. However, the 1932 elections saw its vote share fall to 0.3%, with the party failing to win a seat. Romanian Communist Party
The Romanian Communist Party ( ro, Partidul Comunist Român, , PCR) was a communist party in Romania. The successor to the pro-Bolshevik wing of the Socialist Party of Romania, it gave ideological endorsement to a communist revolution that would replace the social system of the Kingdom of Romania. After being outlawed in 1924, the PCR remained a minor and illegal grouping for much of the interwar period and submitted to direct Comintern control. During the 1920s and the 1930s, most of its activists were imprisoned or took refuge in the Soviet Union, which led to the creation of competing factions that at times came in open conflict. That did not prevent the party from participating in the political life of the country through various front organizations, most notably the Peasant Workers' Bloc. 1928 Romanian General Election
General elections were held in Romania in December 1928. Immediately after acceding to power, the National Peasants' Party (NPP) prepared the next elections. The lists were filed before the local Courts before 26 November, while voting took place for the Chamber on 12 December, the Universal College of the Senate on 15 December, the local/county councils (Senate) on 17 December, and the Chamber of Industries and Commerce (Senate) on 19 December. The elections were strongly contested by the National Liberal Party (NLP). Grivița Strike Of 1933
Grivița () is a district of Bucharest, Romania, centered on the Grivița Railway Yards (''Atelierele CFR Grivița''), which were and still are an important landmark within the manufacturing landscape of the city. Located near Gara de Nord, their history dates back to the late decades of the 19th century, when they were developed in order to perform maintenance and overhaul of railway equipment serving Căile Ferate Române. The name reflects the Romanian spelling for ''Grivitsa'', a village near Pleven, where one of the Ottoman redoubts in the Plevna's defenses was stormed and captured with heavy casualties by the Romanian Army during the Romanian War of Independence (''see Siege of Plevna'').
