Pearse Park (Arklow)
Pearse Park or Pearse's Park, () is an GAA stadium in Arklow, County Wicklow, Ireland. It is the home of the Wicklow hurling and camogie teams. The ground has a capacity of about 5,000. History Pearse name and redevelopment The ground is named after both the Pearse brothers executed in 1916; Patrick Pearse and Willie Pearse. It is believed that the ground was redeveloped around 1965. Former use Before the ground was redeveloped it was a greyhound racing track known as the Arklow Greyhound Track. The track raced under Irish Coursing Club rules and opened on 30 July 1949 but the Arklow Greyhound Racing Company was fined in 1949 for failing to stamp admission tickets and failure to produce a register. In 1951 landlord William Smyth sued the company for £375 unpaid rent & £1,300 under a covenant of the lease. Ballybay Pearse Brothers Gaelic Football Club is a Gaelic football club based in Ballybay, County Monaghan, Ireland. History The club was founded as Ballybay GFC in 1906. The club is named after the brothers Patrick Pearse and Willie Pearse, executed after the 1916 Easter Rising. Their grounds, Pearse Park, opened in April 1951, the 35th anniversary of the Rising, and were commonly used for inter-county fixtures. Ballybay won their first senior trophy in 1952 by winning the league (Owen Ward Cup). In 1953 their first championship followed as the team captained by Paddy McKearney beat Donaghmoyne in the county final. A "golden age" followed, Ballybay winning six Monaghan Senior Football Championships in the years 1953-1969. In the fifties, together with neighbours and great rivals Clontibret, Ballybay were a dominant force in the hugely popular tournament football in Ulster and Leinster at the time. Pearse Park is a GAA stadium in Longford, County Longford, Republic of Ireland. It is the main grounds of Longford's Gaelic football and hurling teams. In 2012, the stadium was renamed Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, due to sponsorship with Glennon Brothers, a local timber firm. The ground originally had a capacity of 18,000, however in November 2011, this was cut to 8,000 for health and safety reasons. History The grounds were formerly named Longford Park. Longford first started playing at Longford Park in 1937. The ground was later renamed Pearse Park after Patrick Pearse who had been executed during the Easter Rising. On 4 June 2006, Dublin defeated Longford by two points at Pearse Park, the last time Dublin have played a Championship match away from Croke Park until they played Laois in Nowlan Park in 2016. Eastfield, South Lanarkshire
Eastfield is a mainly residential district in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, located between the industrial towns of Rutherglen and Cambuslang in the south-east of the Greater Glasgow urban area. It is situated south of the River Clyde, adjoining the Stonelaw and Burnside neighbourhoods of Rutherglen, and Silverbank in Cambuslang. History In the late 19th and early 20th century Eastfield was a country estate with a burn running through it; a brewery (Wellshot), a brickworks and a small mining community was also present in the area, with cottages along Cambuslang Road (nowadays part of the A724) complemented by ''Eastfield Public School'', constructed in 1898. The Eastfield estate was developed with housing between the 1930s and 1960s, with mix of council-rented and private homes.
