Peak Range National Park
Peak Range is a small national park in Central Queensland, Australia, 760 km northwest of Brisbane. It is located in the Brigalow Belt bioregion. Two rare of threatened plant species and two animal species have been identified in the park. Brigalow Belt
The Brigalow Belt is a wide band of acacia-wooded grassland that runs between tropical rainforest of the coast and the semi-arid interior of Queensland, Australia. The Interim Biogeographic Regionalisation for Australia (IBRA) divides the Brigalow Belt into two IBRA regions, or bioregions, ''Brigalow Belt North'' (BBN) and ''Brigalow Belt South'' (BBS). ''Trioncinia patens'' is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. It is endemic to Queensland. Description ''Trioncinia patens'' is a perennial plant that typically grows up to tall. It has a thick woody taproot and several stems arise from the caudex. The alternate leaves are mostly basal, and are up to 7 cm long; the petioles are up to 4 cm long; the lamina is pinnatifid, and is up to 3 cm long and 2 cm wide; the narrow leaf segments are 1 to 1.5 mm wide, and have a short, sharply pointed tip at the apex. The koala or, inaccurately, koala bear (''Phascolarctos cinereus''), is an arboreal herbivorous marsupial native to Australia. ''Geophaps'' is a small genus of doves in the order Columbiformes. Established by George Robert Gray, it contains three extant species. The plumage and distribution suggests that all species within the genus have formed from a common ancestor and that through adaptive radiation they have varied greatly in size, shape and ecology. Taxonomy The genus ''Geophaps'' was introduced in 1842 to accommodate the squatter pigeon (''Geophaps scripta'') by the English zoologist George Robert Gray.
