Peacemaker (Texas Hippie Coalition Album)
'' Peacemaker '' is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Texas Hippie Coalition. It was released on August 14, 2012 and reached No. 20 on the ''Billboard'' Hard Rock Albums chart. The singles, "Damn You to Hell" and " Turn It Up", were the first by the band to chart on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock chart, peaking at 40 and 39, respectively. Production The album was produced by Bob Marlette. Composition According to lead vocalist Big Dad Ritch, "Peacemaker", the title track from the album, was written from the perspective of a gun, due to many of his previous compositions being written from his point of view. He goes on to state that "I'm not using that gun to rob somebody, to take what they got, I'm gonna be using that gun to protect what's mine." The album also contains the track "Turn It Up", which talks about a woman who was born to a religious leader who starts down the road to become an adult entertainer. Texas Hippie Coalition
Texas Hippie Coalition (sometimes stylized THC) is an American heavy metal band from Denison, Texas. History The band was formed in Denison, Texas by Big Dad Ritch, along with his friend John Exall and other friends. Several lineup changes occurred before, ''Rollin'', with producer Dave Prater. ''Rollin'' arrived on July 6, 2010, which was their first national release. In early 2012 the group began working with producer Bob Marlette. Their first single " Turn It Up" was released in June of that same year. ''Peacemaker'' was released on August 14, 2012, and was ranked 20 on '' Billboard'' Hard Rock Albums. In February 2014, it was announced that '' Ride On'', the fourth studio album from the quartet is expected to be released October 7, 2014. The Independent Albums chart (previously titled Top Independent Albums) ranks the highest-selling independent music albums and extended plays (EPs) in the United States, as compiled by Nielsen SoundScan and published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. It is used to list artists who are not signed to major labels. Rankings are compiled by point-of-purchase sales obtained by Nielsen, and from legal music downloads from a variety of online music stores. The chart began in the week of February 5, 2000. Top Heatseekers are "Breaking and Entering" music charts issued weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. The Heatseekers Albums and the Heatseekers Songs charts were introduced by ''Billboard'' in 1991 with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists. Albums and songs appearing on Top Heatseekers may also concurrently appear on the ''Billboard'' 200 or ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Albums chart The Heatseekers Albums chart contains 25 positions that are ranked by Nielsen SoundScan sales data, and charts album titles from "new or developing acts" as determined by the acts' historical chart performance. Randy Cooper
Randy "The Arsonist" Cooper (born ) is the former guitarist for American rock band Emperors and Elephants as well as American red dirt metal band Texas Hippie Coalition. Cooper also acted as a session guitarist on American southern rock band Shotgun Rebellion's debut album'' Train of Pain ''in addition to performing on a limited number of dates with the band. History Cooper moved to Denison, Texas when he was 16 years of age. Having met Pantera shortly thereafter, and opening for them as part of Texas Hippie Coalition, he became attracted to Dean Guitars, and played the same Vintage 82 DEAN from 1989 until at least 2009. In 1991, an automobile accident in Oklahoma City turned the guitarist into a quadriplegic, confining him to a wheelchair and forcing him to regain his stride. After regaining motion in his right arm and both legs, Cooper spent additional time in rehab, recovering only one finger on his left hand. James Richard "Big Dad Ritch" Anderson is an American singer and the lead vocalist of heavy metal band Texas Hippie Coalition from Denison, Texas. History Big Dad Ritch came to prominence in 2004 when he co-founded the metal band Texas Hippie Coalition with John Exall. After being influenced by bands like Molly Hatchet, Pantera, and ZZ Top, Big Dad Ritch and Texas Hippie Coalition are considered to be members of the red dirt metal genre.
