Payback (video Game)
''Payback'' is a video game developed and published by Apex Designs. It was first released in 2001. It was followed by a sequel in 2012, '' Payback 2''. Gameplay The game is similar in gameplay to the original GTA, with new camera angles and more weapons being obvious differences. The player can use shotguns grenades, as well as weapons such as remote controlled cars carrying explosives. The game also supports four-player multiplayer deathmatch. The Game Boy Advance version includes eleven cities. Development It was originally a fan's project to make an Amiga clone of ''Grand Theft Auto''. In the author's own words, "every effort has been made to ensure that Payback beats GTA in every way." The game was eventually expanded into a commercial release, and in 2002 Apex Designs announced plans to bring it to Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, and the Game Boy Advance (GBA). DSI Games
Destination Software Inc., better known as DSI Games, was an American video game publisher and video game developer. Based in Moorestown, New Jersey, DSI is best known for publishing SNOOD. DSI published titles for the Nintendo DS, Wii, Game Boy Advance and PlayStation 2. In December 2007, Destination Software became the North American branch of Zoo Games after being acquired by GreenScreen Interactive Software (along with Zoo Digital Publishing) and renamed Zoo Publishing, Inc. The company no longer produced titles under its previous Destination Software name. Between 2008 and 2011 Zoo Publishing released around 60 games. In 2013 all indiePub and Zoo companies were closed. The game's narrative follows a criminal who climbs in status within the criminal underworld across three fictional cities, inspired by real-life locations. Freeverse Inc. (originally Freeverse Software) was a developer of computer and video game and desktop software based in New York City which was acquired by Ngmoco in 2010. Ngmoco was itself acquired later that year, and shut down in 2016. History Ian Lynch Smith founded Freeverse in 1994 as a shareware company. Amiga is a family of personal computers introduced by Commodore in 1985. The original model is one of a number of mid-1980s computers with 16- or 32-bit processors, 256 KB or more of RAM, mouse-based GUIs, and significantly improved graphics and audio compared to previous 8-bit systems.
