Pavlov Ballet
Pavlov Ballet is first ballet company incorporated outside Russia. Founded by Dmitri Pavlov in 1992 and incorporated in England and Wales in 1997. Company led by Ella Gusova (company director) and Alla Chachina (artistic director). Pavlov Ballet's first season in the UK began in September 1998 and concluded in June 1999. The company repertoire included Giselle, Grand Pas from Paquita, Les Sylphide and a number of variations and Pas De Dux from various ballets. The progress of the company was closely followed by the media: BBC, HTV, Womans own magazine, Independent Sunday magazine among a few. BBC Radio 4 covered the pre season launch and later BBC Europe Direct ran a feature. After a successful season the company was sold to Grand Theatre Swansea where it continued under a different name Swansea Ballet Russe. Ballet Company
A ballet company is a type of dance troupe which performs classical ballet, neoclassical ballet, and/or contemporary ballet in the European tradition, plus managerial and support staff. Most major ballet companies employ dancers on a year-round basis, except in the United States, where contracts for part of the year (typically thirty or forty weeks) are the norm. A company generally has a home theatre where it stages the majority of its performances, but many companies also tour in their home country or internationally. Ballet companies routinely make a loss at the box office, and depend on external financial support of one kind or another. Dmitri Pavlov (composer)
Dmitri Aleksandrovich Pavlov is a Russian composer. He was born in St Petersburg in 1959, and graduated from St. Petersburg Conservatoire in 1982 class Theory and Composition. Acclaimed for his work as a film composer and perhaps best known for his score for the film The Cuckoo (Кукушка in Russian) directed by Aleksandr Rogozhkin. Apart from music for film, Dmitri Pavlov has written for ballet, theatre and orchestra.
