Şafak Pavey (née Önal; born 10 July 1976) is a Turkish diplomat, columnist and politician. She is a member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly from the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) representing Istanbul Province. She is the first disabled woman ever elected to the Turkish parliament, and is a member of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In 2012 Pavey was honored by the United States Department of State with the International Women of Courage Award. She announced her resignation as a member of parliament on 15 September 2017, citing health reasons. The resignation took effect on 25 October 2017. Alfie Martin Kevin Pavey (born 2 October 1995) is an English footballer who plays as a forward for National League South club Dover Athletic. Career On 18 December 2012, he was called up for the first time by Maidstone United, remaining an unused substitute in their 1–2 defeat away to FC Halifax Town in the FA Trophy second round at The Shay. In Maidstone's youth ranks, Pavey scored over 300 goals in three years, including 124 in his final season before on 22 May 2013 joining Millwall on a two-year academy scholarship. Charles W
The F/V ''Charles W'', also known as Annie J Larsen, is a historic fishing schooner anchored in Petersburg, Alaska. At the time of its retirement in 2000, it was the oldest fishing vessel in the fishing fleet of Southeast Alaska, and the only known wooden fishing vessel in the entire state still in active service. Launched in 1907, she was first used in the halibut fisheries of Puget Sound and the Bering Sea as the ''Annie J Larsen''. In 1925 she was purchased by the Alaska Glacier Seafood Company, refitted for shrimp trawling, and renamed ''Charles W'' in honor of owner Karl Sifferman's father. The company was one of the pioneers of the local shrimp fishery, a business it began to phase out due to increasing competition in the 1970s. Iris Pavey Gilmore (1900-1982) was an American writer. She wrote both non-fiction for adults and juveniles. She had a particular interest in Colorado history. Early life Iris Pavey Gilmore was born in Villa Ridge, Illinois, in 1900, the daughter of C. W. B. Pavey. She was educated at Schuster-Martin Dramatic School, in Cincinnati, Ohio, founded by an aunt of the actor Tyrone Power. She received a B.A. in education and drama in 1921 and an M.A. in 1944 from the University of Denver. Career Gilmore was a dramatic teacher and director. During the 1920s and 1930s, she worked as the dramatic director of the KOA Radio Station in Denver. Gilmore also taught music at the Lamont School of Music. Kenneth Steven Pavey (; born 23 August 1979) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Early career Born in South London, Pavey made his debut at local club Athenley FC before moving to his boyhood favourite club Millwall. He ended his junior years at Sittingbourne where he also made his debut at senior level. A transfer to Premier League side Aston Villa fell through in 1998 because the two clubs involved could not agree on a transfer fee. Max Pavey (March 5, 1918 – September 4, 1957) was an American chess master. Biography After graduating from City College of New York in 1937, he studied medicine in Glasgow, and while a student won the Scottish Championship at Aberdeen 1939, with 7.5/9. Pavey would leave Scotland soon after this tournament, in June 1939, just before World War II. He was U.S. Lightning Champion in 1947. In 1948, he placed tied 5-8th place in the U.S. Open Chess Championship at Baltimore with 8.5/12. He was New York State Champion in 1949. During this time he also earned a master's degree in chemistry at Brooklyn College. Simon Pavey (born 4 April 1967 in Sydney, Australia) is a motorcycle enduro and off road racer, currently based in Wales. Pavey started his racing career in Sydney in 1981 with a motorcross race in Appin and won his first race at the same circuit that year. He has since competed in numerous rally events worldwide including the Dakar Rally ten times, completing it seven times (including his first attempt in 1998).
