Paul "Hucklebuck" Williams (July 13, 1915 – September 14, 2002) was an American jazz and blues saxophonist, bandleader, and songwriter. His record " The Huckle-Buck", recorded in December 1948, was one of the most successful R&B records of the time. In his ''Honkers and Shouters'', Arnold Shaw credited Williams as one of the first to employ the honking tenor saxophone solo that became the hallmark of rhythm and blues and rock and roll in the 1950s and early 1960s. Biography Williams was born in Lewisburg, Tennessee, and grew up in Bowling Green, Kentucky, before moving with his parents to Detroit, Michigan, at the age of 13. He started learning saxophone and played in school bands before forming his own band, Paul Williams and his Kings of Rhythm, with the trumpeter Lloyd Henderson, in the mid-1930s, and playing in local clubs. Paul Glyn Williams (14 November 1922 – 10 September 2008) was a British Conservative Party politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunderland South from 1953 to 1964. He was also a prominent businessman. He was one of 8 Conservative "Suez rebels" who resigned the Conservative Party whip to protest against the government's decision to withdraw from Suez. Personal life Williams was the son of businessman Samuel O. Williams and his wife Esmée (née Cail). He was educated at Marlborough College and Trinity Hall, Cambridge University (MA 1942), where he won a half blue in athletics and was secretary of the Cambridge University Conservative Association. Paul Williams (born 3 April 1973) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club and the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is also a former assistant coach in the AFL, which most notably included a brief period as caretaker coach of the Western Bulldogs towards the end of the 2011 season. Paul Darren Williams (born 26 March 1971) is an English professional football coach and former player who was until August 2022 academy director at Birmingham City. As a player, he was a centre back and midfielder from 1989 until 2005, playing domestically for Derby County, Lincoln City, Coventry City, Southampton and Stoke City and in the USL A-League for Richmond Kickers. Upon his retirement he moved into coaching, working in the academies at Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City, Birmingham City and with the England youth teams. Paul Anthony Williams (born 16 August 1965) is an English football coach and former professional footballer who played as a striker. As a player he made 300 appearances in the Premier League for Crystal Palace as well as in the Football League for Charlton Athletic, Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Birmingham City, Torquay United and Southend United.
