Paul Thompson (professor)
Paul Thompson (born 1 January 1951) is Professor of Employment Studies at the University of Stirling, Scotland. He was formerly Professor of Organisational Analysis and Vice Dean Research at the University of Strathclyde. Professor Thompson is one of the main theorists of Labour process theory and is Convenor of the Steering Group of the International Labour Process Conference. He is on the editorial board and a former Editor of '' Renewal'', a journal committed to exploring radical social democratic policies in the British Labour Party. Paul Thompson (ice Hockey, Born 1965)
Paul Thompson is a British ice hockey head coach and general manager. He was head coach of the Great Britain men's national ice hockey team from 2006 to 2011. As of 2018, he is the winningest coach in the Elite Ice Hockey League, and has received nine Coach of the Year trophies in his career. His teams have won three Challenge Cups, two British Knockout Cups, and he is the first coach to win five Elite League titles. In the 2004–2005 season, Thompson completed the British Hockey Grand Slam; winning the Challenge Cup, the EIHL title, and the EIHL playoff championship. He served as the general manager and head coach of the Sheffield Steelers from 2015 to 2018, and previously coached 19 seasons with the Coventry Blaze organisation. Paul Beilby Lawley Thompson, 1st Baron Wenlock (1 July 1784 – 9 May 1852), born Paul Beilby Lawley, was an English nobleman and Whig politician. Life Thompson was born Paul Beilby Lawley, the youngest son of Sir Robert Lawley, 5th Baronet and Jane Thompson. In 1820, he inherited the estate of Escrick in Yorkshire from his uncle, Richard Thompson, and changed his name to Paul Beilby Thompson. He entered Parliament for Wenlock, in Shropshire in 1828, and retained the seat until 1832. He then stood for the East Riding of Yorkshire, and was member there until 1837. In 1839, he was created Baron Wenlock, of Wenlock in the County of Salop, a title previously held by his eldest brother Robert, who died without issue. Upon ennoblement, he was given a Royal Licence to change his name to Paul Beilby Lawley Thompson, and allow his heirs to carry only the Lawley surname. Paul Mulligan Thompson (10 February 1931 – 12 June 2007) was a British sinologist and pioneer in the field of Chinese computer applications. Biography Paul Thompson was born at Xingtai in Hebei province, China, where his Northern Irish parents worked as missionaries with the China Inland Mission. He attended the Chefoo School, a Christian boarding school at Yantai in Shandong province, until November 1942 when the staff and students were interned at the Temple Hill Japanese Internment Camp. A few months later, in the summer of 1943, Thompson and his family were moved to the Weixian Internment Camp in Shandong (modern Weifang city), where they remained until liberated by American paratroopers in 1945. His family then moved back to Northern Ireland, and Thompson completed his schooling in Belfast. He is a member of Andy Mackay's project with the Metaphors and joined Lindisfarne in 2013. Paul Anthony Thompson MBE (born 15 March 1964, Canberra) is an Australian elite level rowing coach and former rower. As a rower he was an Australian under-age champion, won a silver medal at the 1985 U23 World Championships and rowed in senior King's Cup eights for both South Australia and New South Wales. Paul Thompson (born November 30, 1988) is an American ice hockey forward who is currently playing with the Bridgeport Islanders in the American Hockey League (AHL). During the 2010–11 season, he was the Hockey East player of the year, led the Hockey East in scoring, and led the nation in power play goals while playing with the University of New Hampshire. Paul Ivan Thompson (November 2, 1906 – September 13, 1991) was a Canadian ice hockey winger who played 13 season in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was the younger brother of Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Cecil "Tiny" Thompson. Career Thompson started his National Hockey League career with the New York Rangers in 1926. He would also play for the Chicago Black Hawks and retire after the 1939 season. Twice, he was a member of the NHL All-Star team. He was a three-time winner of the Stanley Cup, winning it in 1928 with the Rangers, and in 1934 and 1938 with Black Hawks.
