Paul Smyth (poet)
Paul Smyth (31 January 1944 – 17 December 2006) was an American poet, writer, and teacher. Background Paul Smyth was born in Boston and raised in Holliston, Massachusetts. At the age of sixteen, he left home to hitchhike across the North America. During this time, he spent time in Mexico, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Provincetown. It was in Massachusetts that he got his first writing job as a freelancer for the ''New Beacon Newspaper''. He studied in Harvard University's extension program with poet Theodore Morrison. He received his B.A. in 1968. Smyth was married three times, the third time to the poet Gjertrud Schnackenberg. He had two children from his second marriage. Career He taught writing and literature at Mount Holyoke College and Bard College at Simon's Rock. Smyth eventually left academia after 10 years of teaching, and moved to Greece for a year. Paul Patrick Smyth (born 10 September 1997) is a Northern Irish professional footballer who plays as a forward for Leyton Orient. Club career Linfield Smyth broke into the Linfield first team as an 18-year-old in 2015, making his NIFL Premiership debut in a 2-1 defeat to Cliftonville on 14 November 2015. In the 2016-17 season he helped the club lift a treble of trophies; the NIFL Premiership, the Irish Cup, and the County Antrim Shield, while picking up a host of individual awards including the Ulster Young Player of the Year 2016/17. Queens Park Rangers On 29 August 2017, Smyth joined QPR for an undisclosed fee on a two-year contract. On 1 January 2018, Smyth made his QPR, EFL Championship and professional debut against Cardiff City, scoring the winning goal in the 72nd minute. Paul Smyth (born 1947) is a professor of social policy in the School of Social and Political Sciences, University of Melbourne Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Arts at the University of Melbourne. Education and early career Smyth initially trained as a Roman Catholic priest. Smyth then completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Murdoch University in Perth, and a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of New South Wales. Smyth was a senior researcher at Uniya, a Jesuit social research and action centre in Sydney established by Frank Brennan (priest), Frank Brennan. Paul was then Director of Social Policy and Research and Development at the School of Social Work and Social Policy at the University of Queensland. Paul Cranfield Smyth
Paul Cranfield Smyth (1888-1963) was the founder of the Finchley Art Society and a prolific artist. From age seven onwards, he painted over 4000 pictures during his life. His subjects include some paintings done during the First World War in Gibraltar, Egypt and Netley Hospital. He also painted on Canvey Island, Hampstead and Highgate, Oxford and many other locations. Early life Paul Cranfield Smyth was born in St. Anne’s School, Highgate in April 1883. His father (George) was the Headmaster of the school. In 1896, he started working as a probationary teacher at the school and in 1901 received the Pupil Teacher's Bishops of London Prize for Religious Knowledge. In 1902, Smyth entered St Marks College, Chelsea where he studied until 1904. Subsequently he taught in Holy Trinity Boys School, Sloane Square (1904) and Blackstock Road London County Council School (1908).
