Paul Singer (public Servant)
Lieutenant Paul Anthony Lynden Singer, is an Australian public servant and naval officer serving as the 12th and current official secretary to the governor-general of Australia under Sir Peter Cosgrove since August 2018 and General David Hurley since July 2019. He is a serving officer in the Royal Australian Navy Reserve (RANR), and formerly an active lieutenant in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Naval career Singer enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy in January 1996 as a principal warfare officer. He served on numerous vessels including as the warfare and boarding officer onboard HMAS Anzac (2001–2003) and as the executive officer of HMAS Launceston (2003–2005). From 2005–2006 he was the course implementation officer at HMAS Cerberus. In May 2008 he transferred to active reserve as a Lieutenant. 2016 New Year Honours
The New Year Honours 2016 were appointments by some of the 16 Commonwealth realms to various orders and honours to recognise and reward good works by citizens of those countries. The New Year Honours are awarded as part of the New Year celebrations at the start of January. Order Of Australia
The Order of Australia is an honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. It was established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on the advice of the Australian Government. Before the establishment of the order, Australian citizens received British honours. The 2011 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, commonly known as CHOGM 2011, was the 22nd Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Nations. Held in Perth, Western Australia, between 28 and 30 October 2011 and hosted by the Prime Minister Julia Gillard. Venue Perth, Western Australia, hosted the conference, the first time the city hosted the event and the first time the event had been held in Australia since the 2002 meeting at Coolum, Queensland.
