Paul Ramsey (Canadian Politician)
Paul Ramsey is a Canadian academic and politician. A member of the New Democratic Party, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia for Prince George-North in 1991 and re-elected in 1996, serving until 2001. Biography Ramsey was born in a suburb of Milwaukee, the son of a manager of a steel fabricating plant and councilman. He started his post-secondary education in chemical engineering at Northwestern University, but after two years switched to literature, receiving a bachelor's (Carroll College) and master's (University of Illinois) degree in English. he taught at the University of Wisconsin, Superior for three years. He met Hazel at Carroll College and they moved to the University of British Columbia so he could start a Ph.D. In 1975, he got a job as an English instructor at the College of New Caledonia in Prince George. Lois Boone
Lois Ruth Boone (born April 26, 1947) is a Canadians, Canadian politician. She served as MLA for Prince George North from 1986 to 1991, and Prince George-Mount Robson from 1991 to 2001, in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. She is a member of the British Columbia New Democratic Party. Career Boone held a number of brief positions in the Executive Council of British Columbia, including Minister of Government Services, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and Minister of Transportation and Highways. Later government roles included the Minister for Children and Families and Deputy Premier. The 1996 British Columbia general election was the 36th provincial election in the Province of British Columbia, Canada. It was held to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. The election was called on April 30, 1996, and held on May 28, 1996. Voter turnout was 59.1 per cent of all eligible voters. The election is notable for producing a "false-winner" outcome, rewarding a party that got second in the popular vote with a majority government.
