Paul Anthony Phillips (born April 15, 1977) is a former American professional baseball catcher. He attended the University of Alabama. He is a first cousin of infielder Andy Phillips. Career Phillips was originally drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 59th round (1,519th overall) of the 1995 Major League Baseball draft, but he did not sign. A year later, he was drafted for a second time by the Houston Astros in the 25th round (744th overall) of the 1996 Major League Baseball draft, and again, Phillips did not sign. Another two years later, Phillips was drafted again by the Royals in the ninth round (257th overall) of the 1998 Major League Baseball draft, and he signed with the team. He spent eight years in the Royals organization, and made his major league debut on September 9, , going 1-for-2 and recording a single in his first at-bat against the Detroit Tigers. Paul Phillips (guitarist)
Paul James Phillips (born June 26, 1975) is an American guitar player and songwriter, most famous for being a member of the band Puddle of Mudd from 2001 to 2005 and again from 2009 to 2011. He has also played in the bands Happy Hour, Operator, Society Red and Rev Theory. He is currently working on a new project called The Fallout Collective, DJing on The Fox 107.7, and had a guest appearance on the TV show ''Real Fear'' on Chiller. He is also working on becoming a personal trainer and doing fitness photo shoots. Early life Paul Phillips picked up guitar when he was 11. His father played guitar in a cover band. His first guitar and amp was a Squier Strat and a small Peavey combo amp, "I don't remember what the name or model it was; I remember it was a small combo thing." Phillips said. Paul Phillips is an English singer-songwriter, former journalist at ''Music Week'', and a former A&R man and record producer at CBS Records. Career Phillips began songwriting at age 14 and performed in a band in his hometown of Wolverhampton. This was at a time when even leading acts such as The N'Betweens (later Slade) were doing strictly cover versions. While at CBS Records, he met American musician Pete Zorn, signed to the label with the trio Fishbaugh, Fishbaugh and Zorn. The two hit it off and from then, Zorn was on almost every session where Phillips was producer. They also started demoing their own songs. Phillips trekked around London record companies for nearly three years until he finally landed a deal for him and Zorn with Logo Records, home of The Tourists (later Eurythmics) and Streetband (lead singer, Paul Young). Paul Phillips (born August 9, 1972 in San Francisco, California) is an American software developer, entrepreneur and poker player. Programming Phillips wrote the Boa (web server), Boa web server while attending the University of California, San Diego, but no longer maintains it. In 1994, one of his colleagues at college discovered he had an interest in blackjack and subsequently introduced him to poker. In 1996, he became Chief Technical Officer for Go2Net. This success is the basis of his nickname Dot-com company, Dot-com. Phillips subsequently started working on the Scala (programming language), Scala compiler and standard library. He is co-founder of Lightbend (then known as Typesafe), a company specializing in the production and support of an open-source platform for software development based on Scala and Akka (software), Akka. Paul Schuyler Phillips (born April 28, 1956) is an American conductor, composer and music scholar. He is the Gretchen B. Kimball Director of Orchestral Studies, with the rank of Associate Professor in Teaching, at Stanford University, where he directs the Stanford Symphony Orchestra and Stanford Philharmonia. He is also Music Director and Conductor of the Pioneer Valley Symphony and Chorus, and maintains an international career as a guest conductor and composer. As a scholar, he is best known for his works on Igor Stravinsky and Anthony Burgess. Conducting In 1982, Phillips accepted Michael Gielen’s invitation to become his conducting assistant at the Frankfurt Opera, and was appointed 1st Kapellmeister and Chorus Director at Stadttheater Lüneburg the following year. Paul Phillips (1959–2007) was one of Ireland's most popular and respected bodhrán players and teachers, immersed in the drum as an art form and in particular in the development and promotion of the style of play known as top-end. He shared stages at various times with Mary Bergin, Lunasa, Michael McGoldrick, Seán Ryan (Irish fiddler), Sean Ryan, Gerry O'Connor (fiddle player), Gerry O'Connor, Steve Cooney, Seamus Tansey and more. He was a regular member of Darragh Folk and Reely Jiggin. Phillips taught and toured widely across Europe, the United States and even as far afield as Timbuktu in the Sahara in 2006, bringing the drum to ever wider audiences. He was an experienced teacher and Comhaltas adjudicator and taught at many of the main summer schools in Ireland. Phillips died suddenly on 16 September 2007.
