Paul O'Loughlin
Paul O'Loughlin was an Australian actor and director. He directed some of the first television plays in Australia. He joined the ABC in the 1930s. He directed numerous stage plays. He was born and educated in Melbourne and worked in Brisbane and Adelaide. O'Loughlin served in the RAAF in WWII and married Maiva Drummond in 1942. The couple had met in Melbourne in 1935 in the cast of Gregan McMahon's production of '' Sheppey''. Maiva Drummond was an Australian actress of stage and radio, known for her part in the long-running ABC radio serial she starred as Jean Lawson in radio serial ''The Lawsons'' in the late 1940s and its longer running successor series Blue Hills as Rose Bishop, from 1949 until 1976, both series written by Gwen Meredith Biography Theatre Drummond was born in Bathurst, New South Wales lived most of her young life in Hay. She first appeared in amateur productions of ''A Midsummer Night's Dream'' and '' The Boatswain's Mate'' in Sydney in 1927. By 1928 she was teaching elocution back in Hay and held a concert featuring her pupils as a fundraiser for the Parish Hall, where she later produced and performed in many fundraising entertainments. In 1934 she appeared in ''Heat Wave'' with the Little Theatre in Melbourne. The following year she played Florrie in Gregan McMahon's production of '' Sheppey''. ''Eurema'' is a widespread genus of grass yellow butterflies in the family Pieridae. Species range from Asia, Africa, Australia, and Oceania, to the New World. The type species is the North American barred yellow (''Eurema daira''). There are over 70 species in the genus, but more than 300 synonymous names have been applied to them. Some species, such as the common African grass yellow ('' E. hecabe'') have over 80 synonyms. The genus itself has over 15 junior generic synonyms. ''The Northern Champion'' was a bi-weekly newspaper published in Taree, New South Wales, Australia from 1912 until 1961. History ''The Northern Champion'' was first published on 2 February 1912 by David A. Cowan. McMahon played in the Riverview football team, and took first-class honours in classics at his matriculation examination. Sheppey (play)
''Sheppey'' (1933) was William Somerset Maugham's last play, written at the age of 59 and after he had reached distinction as a novelist and playwright. Maugham dedicated the book to Sir John Gielgud. It is the story about the change of fortune of hairdresser Joseph Miller who was born on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent and nicknamed ''Sheppey''. The play is set in the 1930s. Sheppey, a hard worker at the same establishment for 15 years, wins a subsidiary prize in the Irish Sweepstakes, Irish Lottery of £8,500 but does not take to his win with the same style that most others would – and to which most, including his boss, his wife or his daughter and her fiancé (a teacher given to believing that he is more educated than most) — expect him to.
