Paul Murray (rugby Union)
Paul Finbarr Murray (29 June 1905 — 1 June 1981) was an Irish rugby union international. One of nine siblings, Murray was born in Dublin and attended Blackrock College. Murray, who captained Dublin club Wanderers, played provincial rugby for Leinster and was capped 19 times for Ireland, debuting in 1927. He was a versatile back, making his Ireland appearances as a centre, out-half and scrum-half. In 1930, Murray made the British Lions squad for the tour of New Zealand and Australia, featuring in four of the five Tests. He was picked as a three-quarter but ended up as the team's scrum-half after Wilf Sobey was injured. A medical practitioner, Murray became an Ireland selector after retiring from rugby in 1934. He remained active in sport as a golfer and won the 1940 South of Ireland Championship. In 1965 and 1966, Murray served as IRFU president. Sandycove
Sandycove () is a suburb of Dublin, Ireland. It is southeast of Dún Laoghaire and Glasthule, and northwest of Dalkey. It is a popular seaside resort and is well known for its bathing place, the Forty Foot, which in the past was reserved for men only but is now available for mixed bathing. The locale features in the opening of ''Ulysses'' by James Joyce. History On 20 December 1940, during World War II, the Luftwaffe bombed the railway station even though Ireland was a neutral country. There were three injuries. Transport Sandycove and Glasthule railway station opened on 11 October 1855. Sandycove is also serviced by Dublin Bus numbers 59 and 111, and lies close to Dún Laoghaire harbour. Culture The writer James Joyce lived for a week as a young man in the Martello Tower situated beside the Forty Foot bathing place at Sandycove. John Murray (rugby Union)
John Brendan Murray (born 3 April 1942) is an Irish former international rugby union player. Born in Dublin, Murray is the son of Ireland rugby player and administrator Paul Murray. He showed promise as a tennis player and was the number one ranked junior in Ireland, but wasn't able to fully commit to the sport. Murray's solitary Ireland rugby cap came while a medical student at University College Dublin, replacing Mick English at out-half for a 1963 Five Nations Championship match against France in Lansdowne Road. Leinster ( ; ga, Laighin or ) is one of the provinces of Ireland, situated in the southeast and east of Ireland. The province comprises the ancient Kingdoms of Meath, Leinster and Osraige. Following the 12th-century Norman invasion of Ireland, the historic "fifths" of Leinster and Meath gradually merged, mainly due to the impact of the Pale, which straddled both, thereby forming the present-day province of Leinster.
