Paul Kavanagh (politician)
Paul Kavanagh (died 19 March 2022) was an Irish businessman and politician. He briefly served as a Fianna Fáil member of the 18th Seanad. He was nominated by the Taoiseach Charles Haughey, on 26 June 1989, to fill a vacancy after the 1989 general election. He did not contest the 1989 Seanad election. He was the chief executive of Stream International. Kavanagh was also a member of the board of An Post, Aer Lingus, Eircom Eircom Limited, trading as Eir ( ; stylised eir), is a large fixed, mobile and broadband telecommunications company in Ireland. Paul Kavanagh is a British visual effects artist who was nominated at the 82nd Academy Awards in the category of Best Visual Effects for his work on ''Star Trek''. His nomination was shared with Burt Dalton, Russell Earl and Roger Guyett. In 2016, he and his colleagues Chris Corbould, Roger Guyett and Neal Scanlan received the BAFTA-Award in the category of Best Special Visual Effects for their work on '' Star Wars: The Force Awakens''. They were also nominated for an Academy Award, but lost to Ex Machina. He has worked on 30 films to date since his start in 1996. Paul Kavanagh was an Irish criminal and a debt collector for the Kinahan Organised Crime Group run by Christy Kinahan. He was a father of two and also a brother of Gerard Kavanagh and uncle of Jamie Kavanagh. He was originally from Drimnagh and was in his late 20s. Death He had been renting a house in Drumcondra at the time of his death. His partner drove back from a gym on 26 March 2015 and he was parking the car for her when he was attacked. An eyewitness saw him driving the car, then suddenly reversing at speed. His was stopped by a white Audi that blocked his way. Another witness then heard shots then saw a car hitting another. He then saw two men get out of the car and jog in the direction of Grace Park Road. The Audi was set alight before the killers fled. His mother identified his remains at the morgue. Paul Cavanagh
William Grigs Atkinson (8 December 1888 – 15 March 1964), known professionally as Paul Cavanagh, was an English film and stage actor. He appeared in more than 100 films between 1928 and 1959. Life and career Cavanagh was born in Felling, Durham. He attended the Royal Grammar School, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he was an undergraduate student. Cavanagh studied law in England, earning a master of arts degree at Cambridge. A newspaper article published 17 June 1931, reported, "It is on record that Cavanagh won high honors in mathematics and history." Cavanagh practised "for several years" before he changed professions. He went to Canada "for a year of sightseeing and wandering" before he joined and served nine months with the Royal North-West Mounted Police.
