Paul Johnston (cricketer)
Paul Robert Archibald Johnston (born 13 December 1988) is an English cricketer. Johnston is a left-handed batsman (cricket), batsman who bowls right-arm Seam bowling, medium pace. He was born in Hartlepool, County Durham and educated at Durham University. He attended Red House School in Norton before going on to Yarm School for college. Johnston made his first-class cricket, first-class debut for Durham University Centre of Cricketing Excellence, Durham UCCE against Derbyshire County Cricket Club, Derbyshire in 2008 at the County Ground, Derby. He played a further first-class match that season against Durham County Cricket Club, Durham, before playing three fixtures in 2009, the last of which came against Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Warwickshire. In his five first-class matches, he scored 164 runs at a batting average (cricket), batting average of 18.22, with a single half century high score of 73. Nick Johnston (politician)
Paul Nicholas Johnston (born 5 January 1948) is a Scottish politician who was a Conservative Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Mid Scotland and Fife region from May 1999 until August 2001. Political career He stood as a Conservative & Unionist candidate for the Scottish Parliament in 1999 and was elected for the Mid Scotland and Fife region. At the beginning of Parliament, Johnston took the oath in Catalan. In January 2001 he wrote a letter to ''The Times'', where he expressed disillusionment with the attitude of other politicians. An absence from Parliament began in February 2001 with an episode of pneumonia. Johnston resigned in August 2001, citing disillusionment with politics and his perception of a weak party leadership as reasons for doing so. His place in the Scottish Parliament was taken by Murdo Fraser. Paul Johnston (July 17, 1899 – February 18, 1987) was among the printers and artists who defined a new American style of printing, typography and book design in the 1920s and 1930s. Life Johnston began his fine press printing career with Egmont Arens' Flying Stag Press in Greenwich Village, New York City.Special Collections, New York Public Library, Research Call Number: ssCol 1580/ref> Flying Stag Press published ''Drawings by Rockwell Kent: A Portfolio of Prints'', 28 black and white illustrations, in 1924. Paul Johnston (born 29 May 1968) is a British diplomat, and the British Ambassador to Ireland since September 2020. Early life Paul Charles Johnston was born on 29 May 1968 to Charles Johnston and Muriel Johnston (''née'' Hall). Charles Johnston worked for Woolworth's. Muriel Johnston worked for a trade union and is active in the Galashiels Opera. Johnston was educated at St Margaret's Primary School and then the Galashiels Academy in Galashiels, Scotland. At Galashiels Johnston studied French, German, and Spanish and described the efforts of his languages teacher as a possible inspiration for joining the Foreign Office. Johnston then attended the University of Glasgow, graduating with an MA (Hons) in Political Science and Government.
