Paul Hoffmann (cricketer)
Paul Jacob Christopher Hoffmann (born 14 January 1970), is an Australian cricketer who has played for the cricket teams of Scotland. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler. Early life Hoffmann was born on 14 January 1970 in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. Career As a youngster, Hoffmann competed as a woodchopper, following in his father's footsteps. However at the age of 12, while chopping barefoot, he slipped and removed the tip of his left big toe. Following this horrific event Paul never regained his technique and turned to cricket to fill the void. After playing for the Australian Country team against the West Indies in 1993 and for Manly in Sydney, Hoffmann emigrated to Scotland in 1997, first playing for the Uddingston club as an overseas professional. Paul Hoffmann (20 June 1846 – 18 April 1917) was an officer of the Imperial German Navy (''Kaiserliche Marine''), who rose to the rank of vice-admiral. In 1889 he was captain of , the lead ship of the ''Kaiser''-class armored frigates commissioned on 13 February 1875. From 21 October to 12 November 1889, he had Emperor Wilhelm II as his guest during the Emperor's Mediterranean tour visiting Genoa, Athens, Istanbul and Venice.Wilhelm II: the Kaiser's personal monarchy, 1888-1900, John C. Paul Hoffmann (neurophysiologist)
Paul Hoffmann (July 1, 1884 – March 9, 1962) was a German neurophysiologist, chiefly known for describing Hoffmann's sign. Medical career Hoffmann was born in Dorpat, Governorate of Estonia, where his father was professor in Internal Medicine. He went on to study medicine in Universities of Leipzig, Marburg and Berlin from where he received his medical degree in 1909. In 1911, he was appointed as an assistant to Max von Frey at Würzburg University. He published thirty-two articles prior to the beginning of World War I, and during the war, he worked for several German field hospitals in France and the military hospital at Würzburg. His early worked mainly focused on nerve action potentials and electrophysiology of nerves. He was a prolific writer and researcher, and has been hailed by some as father of modern German neurophysiology.
