Paul Albert Hartman
Paul Albert Hartman (born November 25, 1918, in Grafton, Massachusetts; died January 30, 1990) was an American aviator who joined the Royal Canadian Air Force to fight in World War II. His notable contributions to aviation history include his career in the RCAF, where he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross (United Kingdom), DFC, Air Force Cross (United Kingdom), AFC, and Canadian Forces' Decoration, CD. In 1942, he was posted to the Royal Air Force, RAF 69th squadron in Malta. He also piloted the Silver Dart II, and served as a test pilot for CF-100 and F-86E acceptance trials. Hartman was inducted into the Canadian Aviation Hall of Fame in 1973. Grafton is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 19,664 at the 2020 census. The town consists of the North Grafton, Grafton, and South Grafton geographic areas, each with a separate ZIP Code. Canadian Aviation Hall Of Fame
Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame, based in The Hangar Flight Museum in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, commemorates and honours those whose accomplishments in aviation contributed so much to Canada's development as a nation. Founded in 1973, the Hall of Fame has honoured thus far more than 200 aviators, engineers, technicians and administrators. CF-100
The Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck (affectionately known as the "Clunk") is a Canadian twinjet interceptor/ fighter designed and produced by aircraft manufacturer Avro Canada. It has the distinction of being the only Canadian-designed fighter to enter mass production. Work commenced during October 1946 in response to a Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) specification calling for a new jet-powered interceptor/fighter aircraft suitable for long-distance patrol missions and all-weather operations. On 19 January 1950, the ''CF-100 Mark 1'' prototype, ''18101'', conducted its maiden flight, powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce Avon RA 3 turbojet engines. Canadian Forces' Decoration
The Canadian Forces' Decoration (post-nominal letters "CD") is a Canadian award bestowed upon members of the Canadian Armed Forces who have completed twelve years of military service, with certain conditions. By convention, it is also given to the Governor General of Canada upon his or her appointment as viceroy, which includes the title of Commander-in-Chief in and over Canada. The decoration is awarded to all ranks, who must have a good record of conduct during the final eight years of claimed service. The first Governor General to receive the CD was Viscount Alexander of Tunis in 1951. The medal was initially awarded to all members of the Royal Family who served in the Canadian Forces, even without completion of twelve years of service; this has, however, not been automatic since 1953. The Air Force Cross (AFC) is a military decoration awarded to officers, and since 1993 other ranks, of the British Armed Forces, and formerly also to officers of the other Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth countries.
