Patrol Boat (TV Series)
''Patrol Boat'' is an Australian television drama series that screened on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. ''Patrol Boat'' was created by James Davern and two series were produced, in 1979 and 1983, with a total of 26 episodes. ''Patrol Boat'' was about the activities of the crew of a Royal Australian Navy patrol boat which patrolled Australia's coastline. The series was produced with the co-operation of the Royal Australian Navy. Two fictional RAN patrol boats were depicted in the series. HMAS ''Ambush'' (portrayed by HMA Ships and ) was used in the first season, with filming taking place during 1978 and 1979 around Sydney Harbour, Pittwater, Ku-ring-gai Chase, and the Hawkesbury River. For the second season, the crew transferred to the newer HMAS ''Defiance'' (portrayed by HMA Ships , , , , and ). James Davern
James Edmund Davern, OAM, is an Australian television director, writer, script editor and producer, and founder of production company JNP Productions. Professional career Davern was employed as a writer and script editor with Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) television branch in the 1960s. He worked as a producer and director in drama and music programmes and was involved in establishing a script production line. In 1967, Davern was director and producer of the very first episode of '' Bellbird'', Australia's first successful television soap opera, set in a rural community. Davern moved to the Seven Network where he created the highly popular series '' A Country Practice'', one of the most popular drama series in Australian television history. The series ran from 1981 to 1993 with 1,058 episodes. When the Seven Network cancelled '' A Country Practice'' in 1993, it was remade by Network 10 in 1994. Janet Andrewartha (16 September 1951) is an Australian television and theatre actress. Andrewartha began her career as a music teacher before attending drama school. She graduated in 1979and began securing television and theatre roles. ABC Television is the general name for the national television services of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
