Patrick Shaw (diplomat)
Sir Patrick Shaw (18 September 191327 December 1975) was an Australian public servant and diplomat. Shaw joined the Department of External Affairs in 1939. He worked in the Department's political section until 1941 when he was sent on his first overseas posting as third secretary in Australia's Tokyo legation. Shaw and other legation staff were taken as prisoners of war when war broke out. In 1973, Prime Minister Gough Whitlam announced Shaw's appointment as Ambassador to the United States. While in the role, Shaw suffered a fatal heart attack. He died on 27 December 1975. Patrick Shaw (18 June 1796''Scotland, Select Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950'' – 12 February 1872) was a Scottish lawyer and legal writer. Life Born at Ayr, he was the son of Charles Shaw, clerk of Ayrshire, and his wife, Barbara Wright, and grandson of Very Rev David Shaw, D.D., Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. Alexander Shaw, Sir Charles Shaw, and John Shaw (1792–1827) were his brothers. In boyhood, he lost his leg through an accident. In 1819, Shaw was called to the Scottish bar. He lived at 62 Frederick Street in Edinburgh's New Town. In 1848 he was appointed sheriff of chancery, and he held the post till 1869, when he resigned in failing health. He was then living at 40 Heriot Row.Edinburgh Post Office Directory 1850 He died at 36 Charlotte Square, Edinburgh, on 12 February 1872. He is buried in Dean Cemetery in western Edinburgh. Patrick Shaw (politician)
Patrick Walter Shaw (15 February 1872 – 14 September 1940) was an Irish politician and businessman. He owned several premises in Mullingar (and a number of racehorses) and sat on a number of public bodies, including Mullingar Town Commissioners and Westmeath County Council. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a Cumann na nGaedheal Cumann na nGaedheal (; "Society of the Gaels") was a political party in the Irish Free State, which formed the government from 1923 to 1932. Patrick Shaw (born 19 February 1986) is an Australian former racing cyclist. Career Shaw's first victory was stage race Tour of the Southern Grampians in 2007. At the end of the 2009 season, he considered retiring due to failing to get a contract with a European team, but decided to continue riding. 2010 was a successful season for Shaw, as he won stage races Tour of Toowoomba and Tour of Gippsland, along with a stage victory and second place in the Tour of Geelong and one day race Launceston to New Norfolk Classic. These victories gave him first in the Scody Cup National Road Series. The following year was Shaw's first year as a professional with UCI Continental team . During this season, he booked the overall win of the Tour of Toowoomba, along with the second stage. Shaw left the team for the 2013 season, when he rode for amateur team Satalyst Giant Racing.
