Patrick Reynolds (Gaelic Footballer)
Pat Reynolds is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for the Meath county team. He had much success playing inter-county football in the 1960s on the Meath team. He usually played as a halfback. He also played club football for Walterstown. During his playing career he won one Senior All-Ireland medal (1967). When Reynolds played for Meath, they were a very strong team, but Galway beat them in 1964 and 1966. Reynolds continued to play for Meath into the 70s. He played in the first eighty-minute All-Ireland final against Kerry in 1970. He was picked for the left halfback position in 1971, the first year of the All Star Awards, making him Meath's first all star and the only one that season. Walterstown GFC
Walterstown GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association football club based in & around the town of Navan, in County Meath, Ireland. The club plays Gaelic Football competing in Meath GAA & Leinster competitions. The club has a proud tradition having won the Meath Senior Football Championship five times & the Leinster Senior Club championship twice. History Walterstown GFC was founded in 1902 and one of the first mentions of the club was when they entered a Dunshaughlin tournament in aid of the parochial house. The club won the first two Senior Football Championships in 1887 and 1888 under the name Dowdstown GAA. In the late 1970s and 1980s the club won more titles and are currently the only club from Meath to have won a Leinster Senior Club Football Championship twice. The Meath county football team represents Meath in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Meath GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Leinster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. County Meath (; gle, Contae na Mí or simply ) is a county in the Eastern and Midland Region of Ireland, within the province of Leinster. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. An annual tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), it is contested by the county teams in All-Ireland. The first tournament was held in 1887; it has been held every year since 1889. Each tournament ends with a final, played by the 35th Sunday of the year at Croke Park in Dublin, with the winning team receiving the Sam Maguire Cup. Seán Boylan
Seán Boylan (born 12 December 1949) is an Irish former Gaelic football manager from Dunboyne, County Meath. He retired from his position as manager of the senior Meath county team on the evening of 31 August 2005 after twenty-three years in charge. This was an inter-county managerial record with one team that was only surpassed in Gaelic games by Brian Cody in 2022, his 24th and last season as manager of the Kilkenny senior hurling team. During his time with Meath, he managed the team to: the Centenary Cup; eight Leinster Senior Football Championship titles; four All-Ireland Senior Football Championship titles (1987, 1988, 1996, 1999); three National Football League titles. He also managed the Meath county hurling team, whom he also played with for 21 years. He managed Ireland in the 2006 and 2008 International Rules Series.
