Patrick Murray was a Scottish courtier. He was a son of Andrew Murray of Balvaird and Janet Graham, a daughter of William Graham, 2nd Earl of Montrose. His brother was David Murray, 1st Viscount of Stormont He was a gentleman of chamber to James VI of Scotland from 1591 to 1596. He acquired the lands of Binn and Geanis or Ganys near Inverness. In October 1593, James VI went to stay for a few days at Thirlestane Castle at Lauder, the home of the Chancellor of Scotland, John Maitland. The English ambassador heard that he had gone from there to Perth, to meet the excommunicated earls. Roger Aston told him this was not true, and it seems that Bowes had been misled by Patrick Murray. Bowes wrote that "Paty Murray" was the agent of the excommunicated earls. He was called to serve as a gentleman of the king's chamber in November. Patrick Aloysius Murray DD STP (1811–1882) was an Irish Roman Catholic theologian. Life Murray was born in Clones, County Monaghan, Ireland. He was educated at Maynooth College, he was elected a Dunboyne, or senior student, 1835. He received a curacy in Dublin, was appointed professor of English and French in Maynooth, 1838, and became professor of theology there, 1841. The remainder of his life he devoted mainly to theological science. In 1879, he was made prefect of the Dunboyne Establishment, a position he held until his death. Murray wrote for the '' Dublin Review'' and for magazines, besides publishing four volumes called ''Essays, Chiefly Theological''. His greatest work was ''De Ecclesia Christi'', a masterpiece in positive and controversial theology. Patrick Murray, 1st Earl of Tullibardine (died 1644) was a Scottish aristocrat. He was a son of John Murray, 1st Earl of Tullibardine and Catherine Drummond, a daughter of David, 2nd Lord Drummond and Lilias Ruthven. He became a gentleman of the bedchamber to James VI and I. Patrick Murray, 1st Lord Elibank (? - 12 November 1649) was a Scottish peer. Career Murray was a son of Sir Gideon Murray of Elibank and Margaret Pentland. In 1628, he was created a Baronet, of Elibank in the County of Selkirk, in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia, and, in 1643, he was created Lord Elibank, of Ettrick Forest in Selkirkshire, in the Peerage of Scotland, with remainder to his heirs male whatsoever. Lord Elibank was one of the six peers who opposed the extradition of King Charles I to the English Parliament. Patrick Murray, 5th Lord Elibank (1703–1778) was a Scottish soldier, lawyer, author and economist. Life He was the son of Alexander Murray, 4th Lord Elibank (1677-1736), and his wife Elizabeth (née Stirling; died 1756), daughter of George Stirling of Keir, and an eminent surgeon in Edinburgh. General James Murray (1721-1794) was his younger brother; as was Alexander Murray, who gained some notoriety as a Jacobite, not least during the 1750 by-election in Westminster. He was uncle of Major Patrick Ferguson killed at the Battle of King's Mountain in 1780. Although admitted a member of the Faculty of Advocates in 1722, he soon turned from legal to military pursuits, becoming an ensign in the army, and subsequently major in Ponsonby's foot and lieutenant-colonel in Wynyard's marines. Patrick Thomas Murray (5 August 1953 – 24 February 2022) was an Irish journalist and writer. He wrote for the ''Evening Herald'', '' Sunday World'', and spent time as editor of the ''Sunday Tribune''. Education Born in Dublin, County Dublin, Leinster, Ireland, he was educated at Blackrock College. Murray spent a year attending University College Dublin (UCD). While there he wrote and performed comedy sketch shows as part of a three-man comedy group, The Machine. His partners in The Machine were Brendan Martin and Billy McGrath.
