Patrick Hall (politician)
Patrick Hall (born 20 October 1951) is a British Labour Party politician who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bedford from 1997 to 2010. He was re-selected by the Labour Party as their candidate in Bedford for the 2015 general election, but failed to be re-elected to Parliament. Early life Patrick Hall was educated at the independent Bedford Modern School, the University of Birmingham and Oxford Polytechnic. He joined Bedford Borough Council in 1975 as a local government planning officer, becoming the borough's Town Centre Coordinator. Hall remained employed by the council until his election to Parliament. He was elected as a councillor to the Bedfordshire County Council 1989–97 and was a member of the North Bedfordshire Community Health Council. He contested Bedfordshire North at the 1992 General Election, but was defeated by the veteran Conservative MP Trevor Skeet by 11,618 votes. Patrick Hall (cricketer)
Patrick Martin Hall (14 March 1894 — 5 August 1941) was an English first-class cricketer, soldier, and botanist. Hall was educated at Winchester College and Oriel College, Oxford. His studies there were interrupted by the First World War, during which he was awarded the Military Cross. Following the war, he played first-class cricket for Oxford University and Hampshire, in addition to becoming a respected botanist. Early life and WWI service The son of the cricketer Ernest Hall, he was born at Portsmouth in March 1894. His grandfather was the painter Harry Hall. He was educated at Winchester College, before matriculating to Oriel College, Oxford. However, the outbreak of the First World War in July 1914 interrupted his studies. William Patrick Hall (16 December 1906 – 10 June 1992), was a British artist, who mostly worked in watercolours and specialised in landscapes and town scenes. Biography Hall was born in York. While still a teenager, Hall worked on a conservation project restoring the stained glass windows of York Minster. For a time, Hall worked in the family tanning business at Earswick while studying art on a part-time basis. He studied part-time at both the York and Northampton Art Schools and showed an early aptitude for etching and drypoint work. During World War Two, the War Artists' Advisory Committee commissioned Hall to produce a number of watercolours depicting the training of paratroopers at the Parachute Training School at RAF Ringway in Cheshire.
