Patricia Scott (politician)
Patricia D. "Pat" Scott (died January 7, 2001) was an American politician who served as a member of the Washington House of Representatives from 1984 to 2001. First appointed to office upon the resignation of John Martinis, she represented Washington's 28th legislative district as a Democrat for 17 years until her death in 2001. Her death, along with the surprise resignation of Republican Renee Radcliff, set up two special elections for seats in Snohomish County. Renee Radcliff (born 1959) is a former American politician who served as a member of the Washington House of Representatives from 1995 to 2001. She represented Washington's 21st legislative district as a Republican. She surprised colleagues by resigning mid-term in 2001, setting up one of two special elections for seats in Snohomish County, the other being vacated by the death of Democrat Patricia Scott. The Washington State Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Washington. It is a bicameral body, composed of the lower Washington House of Representatives, composed of 98 Representatives, and the upper Washington State Senate, with 49 Senators plus the Lieutenant Governor acting as president. The state is divided into 49 legislative districts, each of which elect one senator and two representatives. The Washington State Senate is the upper house of the Washington State Legislature. The body consists of 49 members, each representing a district with a population of nearly 160,000. The State Senate meets at the Legislative Building in Olympia. As with the lower House of Representatives, state senators serve without term limits, though senators serve four-year terms. Senators are elected from the same legislative districts as House members, with each district electing one senator and two representatives. Washington's 28th legislative district is one of forty-nine districts in Washington state for representation in the state legislature. It is in Pierce County, and contains a bit of Tacoma, and the cities of Fircrest, University Place, Lakewood, Steilacoom, and DuPont. It also contains Ketron Island, Anderson Island, and McNeil Island.
