Patrick John O'Connor (22 August 1924 – 16 August 1990), was a New Zealand amateur and professional wrestler. Regarded as one of the premier workers of his era, O'Connor held the AWA World Heavyweight Championship and NWA World Heavyweight Championship simultaneously, the latter of which he held for approximately two years. He was also the inaugural AWA World Heavyweight Champion. He is an overall two-time world champion. Early life Patrick John O'Connor was born on 22 August 1924 in Raetihi, New Zealand, to parents John Frederick and Isabella. While he attended high school at Feilding Agricultural High School, he also helped tend to the sheep and cattle on his parents' farm. The position he usually plays is lock. Early life O'Connor was born in Brisbane, Australia. He attended secondary school at Marist College Ashgrove in Brisbane, where he played rugby for the 1st XV. Pat O'Connor (October 9, 1928 – May 30, 1958) was an American racecar driver. He was killed in a 15-car pileup, after sustaining a fatal head injury after rolling his car and catching fire on the first lap of the 1958 Indianapolis 500. Champ Car O'Connor competed in 36 races in his champ car career. He took his first win in 1956 at Darlington Raceway. In 1957, he won the pole position for the Indianapolis 500 and he finished eighth. Later in the year, he won at Trenton Speedway. He was on the cover of ''Sports Illustrated'' in May 1958 (one week before the race), adding to the legend of the Sports Illustrated Cover Jinx. Patrick Joseph O'Connor (born November 1, 1993) is an American football defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Eastern Michigan. College career O'Connor recorded 42 tackles and 8.5 sacks as a senior playing for Eastern Michigan University. Career In 1982, O'Connor won a Jacob's Award for his direction of the RTÉ TV adaptation of William Trevor's short story ''Ballroom of Romance'', starring Cyril Cusack and Brenda Fricker. It was shot near the village of Ballycroy, County Mayo. He subsequently won the BAFTA award for Best Television Single Drama, 1983 for the same work. He also directed Trevor's ''One of Ourselves'' for BBC TV, again starring Cyril Cusack, and filmed in Cappoquin and Lismore, County Waterford.
