Pat McCarthy (cricketer)
Patrick Covell Derrick McCarthy (24 October 1919 – 23 December 2007) was a Ceylon-born cricketer who played first-class cricket for Ceylon in the 1940s before moving to Australia and playing for Western Australia in the 1950s. In Ceylon Pat McCarthy attended Royal College, Colombo, where he played in the cricket team for several years. In March and April 1936 he was a member of the Royal College team that toured Australia, the first tour of Australia by an Asian cricket team at any level of cricket. He was the team's highest scorer on the tour. He captained the team to victory in the Royal-Thomian match in March 1938. Two weeks after the Royal-Thomian match, aged 18, McCarthy played for Ceylon in a one-day match against the touring Australians, scoring 24 batting at number four. He was one of several players from Ceylon who were invited to play for The Rest in the Bombay Pentangular over the years, appearing in the match against Hindus in 1938-39. Pat McCarthy (Gaelic Footballer)
Pat McCarthy (born 1950) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played as a midfielder for the Kerry and Kildare senior teams. A nephew of 1940s player, Phil McCarthy, Pat McCarthy was a naturally strong player with excellent hands and a good jump. He was part of the Kerry Under-21 team in the early 1970s but had to wait till the demise of the great Mick O'Connell and the failure of young midfield pretenders like DJ Crowley and John O'Keeffe before getting a proper chance on the senior squad in 1975 under Mick O'Dwyer. He soon became the obvious partner to Paudie Lynch. Many times that season he did most of the heavier lifting at midfield where his strength maintained control against opponents who played rough or fair. McCarthy made his first championship appearance for the team during the 1975 championship and became a regular member of the starting fifteen over subsequent seasons. Pat McCarthy, also known as Pat Doherty, is a former Australia netball international. In 1956 she captained Australia when they toured England, Scotland and Ceylon. The tour saw Australia play against England for the first time. In 2014, McCarthy was inducted into the Australian Netball Hall of Fame. Playing career Australia McCarthy began playing for Australia in 1952. Initially she did not play in full internationals, but against Rest of Australia teams at inter-state sports carnivals. In 1956 McCarthy captained Australia when they toured England, Scotland and Ceylon. The team's head coach was Lorna McConchie. Patrice A. McCarthy (born 1952 or 1953) is an American politician serving as the 11th Washington State Auditor since 2017. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Career McCarthy earned her bachelor of Arts in liberal studies from the University of Washington Tacoma in 1992. She served as the school board director for the Tacoma School District from 1987 to 1999 and as the county executive of Pierce County, Washington. In 2016, McCarthy was elected Washington State Auditor, defeating Republican Mark Miloscia. She won reelection in 2020, receiving 60 percent of the vote against Chris Leyba. Patrick McCarthy is a record producer from Dublin, Ireland who has worked for several rock and alternative rock artists, including The Waterboys, Counting Crows, R.E.M., and U2. In 1998, he replaced Scott Litt as R.E.M.'s in-house producer, co-producing three of their albums '' Up'', '' Reveal'' and ''Around the Sun'' as well as the ''Man on the Moon'' soundtrack; McCarthy had previously served as engineer on R.E.M.'s albums '' Monster'' and ''New Adventures in Hi-Fi''.
