Pat Lindsey (golfer)
Pat Lindsey (born May 17, 1952) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour. Amateur career Lindsey was born, raised, and still makes his home in Toledo, Ohio. He was introduced to golf by his father, an orthodontist, and top amateur golfer. A 1970 graduate of Maumee Valley Country Day School, he went on to attend the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida graduating in 1975. Professional career Lindsey turned professional in 1975. He spent four-plus years on mini tours and working as a club professional. He qualified for the PGA Tour in 1979 and competed through the 1987 season. His career year in professional golf was 1983 when he finished 67th on the money list with four top-10 finishes including a win at the B.C. Open by four strokes over Gil Morgan. Spring 1979 PGA Tour Qualifying School Graduates
This is a list of the Spring 1979 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. The event was held at Pinehurst No. 6, a new course at the Pinehurst Resort. The course opened in March and the event was held three months later. There were 150 players in the finals. Top 25 players and anyone tied for 25th place would graduate onto the PGA Tour. Tournament summary There were multiple players in the field who were attempting to earn playing privileges after a number of failures. 1983 PGA Tour
The 1983 PGA Tour season was played from January 6 to October 30. The season consisted of 43 official money golf tournaments. Seve Ballesteros, Jim Colbert, Mark McCumber, Gil Morgan, Calvin Peete, Hal Sutton, Lanny Wadkins, and Fuzzy Zoeller won the most tournaments, two, and there were 10 first-time winners. The tournament results, leaders, and award winners are listed below. This was also the first season of the "All-Exempt Tour" which provided many more exemptions per year. For example, those that finished in the top 125 of the money list maintained full-time status rather than the top 60 which had been historic benchmark. PGA Tour Champions (formerly the Senior PGA Tour and the Champions Tour) is a men's professional senior golf tour, administered as a branch of the PGA Tour. History and format The Senior PGA Championship, founded in 1937, was for many years the only high-profile tournament for golfers over 50.
