Pat Harrington (soccer)
Pat Harrington (born April 17, 1965) is a Canadian former professional soccer player who played as a goalkeeper. He made one appearance for the Canada national team. Club career In December 1983, the Toronto Blizzard selected Harrington in the first round (second overall) of the 1983 North American Soccer League draft. He moved to English side Charlton Athletic before signing with the Toronto Blizzard in 1986. In his debut season with Toronto he played in the National Soccer League where he assisted in securing the NSL Canadian Championship. The following season he continued playing with the Blizzard in the Canadian Soccer League. He then played for Montreal outfits Supra and Impact. In 1994, he joined the Buffalo Blizzard of the National Professional Soccer League. He scored in the team's second game of the season, but played only eleven games that year due to injury. 1989 FIFA Futsal World Championship
The 1989 FIFA Futsal World Championship was the first ever FIFA Futsal World Championship, the quadrennial international futsal championship contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It was held between 5 and 15 January 1989 in the Netherlands. It was the first non-Olympic FIFA tournament held in the country. Brazil won the tournament. Paul Dolan (soccer)
Kenneth Paul Dolan (born April 16, 1966) is a former Canadian national team and Canadian Soccer League goalkeeper. He is currently the colour commentator for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on ''MLS on TSN.'' He was inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame in 2004. Club career Dolan had a trial with Notts County of England's Football League following the 1986 World Cup, but returned to Canada to continue his career in the Canadian Soccer League, playing for Vancouver 86ers and Hamilton Steelers and winning the CSL championship with the 86ers in 1990 and 1991. The United States men's national soccer team (USMNT) represents the United States in men's international soccer competitions. The team is controlled by the United States Soccer Federation and is a member of FIFA and CONCACAF. World Indoor Soccer League
The World Indoor Soccer League (WISL) was a United States-based indoor soccer league that existed from 1998 to 2001 and consisted of nine teams. History After the demise of the Continental Indoor Soccer League, four of its teams decided to create a new indoor league to be called the Premier Soccer Alliance. The teams complemented their schedules with games against international teams. In 1999, two more former CISL teams (the Houston Hotshots and Monterrey La Raza) joined the league, which then changed its name to World Indoor Soccer League. The name change came about as a result of the "merger" of the US-based Premier Soccer Alliance and an 'English Indoor Football League'. The Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL) was a professional indoor soccer league that played from 1993 to 1997. History In the summer of 1989 Dr Jerry Buss, the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers and California Sports, told his executive Vice President, Ron Weinstein, he was closing the doors on the Los Angeles Lazers of the Major Indoor Soccer League, MISL, and that if he ever wanted to "create a professional indoor soccer league that played in the summer months, out from under the shadow of the NBA, NFL, NHL, NCAA Football and NCAA Basketball", he would support the endeavor. Goals against average (GAA) also known as "average goals against" or "AGA" is a statistic used in field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and water polo that is the mean of goals allowed per game by a goaltender or goalkeeper (depending on sport). GAA is analogous to a baseball pitcher's earned run average (ERA). In Japanese, the same translation (防御率) is used for both GAA and ERA, because of this. For ice hockey, the goals against average statistic is the number of goals a goaltender allows per 60 minutes of playing time. It is calculated by taking the number of goals against, multiply that by 60 (minutes) and then dividing by the number of minutes played. The modification is used by the NHL since 1965 and the IIHF since 1990. When calculating GAA, overtime goals and time on ice are included, whereas empty net and shootout goals are not.
