East Vincent Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania
East Vincent Township is a township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,821 at the 2010 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which, of it are land and of it (1.10%) is covered by water. The township is partially located in the Hopewell Big Woods. History In 1686, Dr. Daniel Coxe received a land patent from William Penn. Major Robert Thompson and he owned what is now East and West Vincent. In 1733, the German Reformed Congregation of Vincent Township was formed. Two years later, in 1735, the Vincent Mennonite Meeting was formed. In that same year, Garrett Brumbaugh established a tavern on Ridge Road. Nicholas Kaiser soon opened a grist mill near the mouth of Pigeon Creek in 1737, and so began the formation of East Vincent. A gristmill (also: grist mill, corn mill, flour mill, feed mill or feedmill) grinds cereal grain into flour and Wheat middlings, middlings. Sawmill
A sawmill (saw mill, saw-mill) or lumber mill is a facility where logs are cut into lumber. Modern sawmills use a motorized saw to cut logs lengthwise to make long pieces, and crosswise to length depending on standard or custom sizes (dimensional lumber).
