Parco Naturale Val Troncea
The nature park Parco naturale Val Troncea is located in Val Chisone, municipality of Pragelato in the Metropolitan City of Turin. The park was created in 1980 to preserve the natural environment. Geography The park is located between 1670 AMSL and 3.280 m AMSL. The highest point is the peak of the mountain Punta Rognosa di Sestriere. The river Chisone seeps at the very end of the valley, at the foot of Monte Barifreddo and runs through it until it reaches the river Pellice. Hiking The nature park has a lot of hiking paths, both linking the different hamlets with each other, or the bottom of the valley with the mountains' peaks. Val Chisone
The Val Chisone is one of the Occitan valleys of western Piedmont, situated in the Cottian Alps in the Metropolitan City of Turin in north-west Italy. Geography Traditionally, the valley's entrances are considered the towns of Pinerolo and Sestriere. It is bounded by the Val di Susa (to which it is connected by the Sestriere Pass, at ) to the north and east, the Val Sangone to the north, the Val Pellice to the south, while eastwards is the plain of the Po Valley. Chisone
The Chisone (in Piedmontese ''Chison'' or ''Cleson'') is a Italian torrent, which runs through Pragelato, Fenestrelle, Perosa Argentina and Pinerolo in the Metropolitan City of Turin. It is a tributary of the Pellice, which in turn is a tributary of the river Po. Although classified as a torrent, there is no period of the year at which the Chisone runs dry. Geography The stream is formed at the foot of Monte Barifreddo in the Cottian Alps and initially runs north-northwest through the Parco Naturale della Val Troncea. The course then follows a semi-circular path through the Val Chisone passing to the east, the north and then to the west of Monte Albergian. Pellice
The Pellice (in Piedmontese ''Pélis'') is a Italian torrent, which runs through the Metropolitan City of Turin. The stream is a tributary of the Po River, into which it flows near Villafranca Piemonte. Geography The stream is formed at the western slope of Monte Granero in the Cottian Alps and initially runs northwards, before turning east and reaching the ''comune'' of Bobbio Pellice. After receiving the waters of several torrents, such as the Ghiacciard, it forms the Val Pellice. Other streams flowing into the Pellice in its later course include the Angrogna and the Chiamogna, near the town of Bricherasio. After the end of its mountain course, the torrent, after Bricherasio, receives the waters of the Chisone between Cavour and Vigone, doubling its average discharge. Bric Ghinivert or Eiminàl (3,037 m a.s.l.) is a mountain of the Cottian Alps located in Italy. Geography The mountain is the highest elevation of the water divide between Val Troncea (West) and Valle Germanasca (East).
