Paralympics Australia
Paralympics Australia (PA) previously called the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC) (1998–2019) is the National Paralympic Committee in Australia for the Paralympic Games movement. It oversees the preparation and management of Australian teams that participate at the Summer Paralympics and the Winter Paralympics. APC played a major role in Australia's successful bid to host the 2000 Sydney Paralympics. Since the 1996 Summer Paralympics, Australia has finished in the top five nations on the medal tally. It is also a successful nation at the Winter Paralympics. National Paralympic Committee
A National Paralympic Committee (NPC) is a national constituent of the worldwide Paralympic movement. Subject to the controls of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), NPCs are responsible for organizing their people's participation in the Paralympic Games. The Paralympic Games are a major international multi-sport event where athletes with physical disabilities compete; this includes athletes with mobility disabilities, amputations, blindness, and cerebral palsy. There are Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, which are held immediately following their respective Olympic Games, in the same host city. Rowing Australia
Rowing Australia (RA) is the governing body for the sport of rowing in Australia. Established in 1925, it is the only organisation recognised by the Federation Internationale des Societies d’Aviron (FISA), the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), and the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), to conduct rowing activities in, and on behalf of Australia. Glenn Robert Tasker (10 November 1951 – 15 August 2019) was a leading Australian sport administrator particularly in swimming, tennis and the Paralympic movement. He was President of the Australian Paralympic Committee from 2013 to 2018. Sport administration career Tasker was Executive Director of New South Wales Swimming from 1990 to 1998. During this appointment, he played a significant role in introducing events for swimmers with disabilities into the NSW Age Swimming Championships, a first for any Australian state swimming championship. From 1998 to 2000, he was Swimming Competition Manager at the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In 1999, he was the Event Manager of 1999 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. Marie Little
Marie Therese Little Order of Australia, OAM (1 January 1933 – 17 August 2014) was a leading Australian sport administrator particularly in the area of disability sport. She was President of the Australian Paralympic Committee, Australian Paralympic Federation and AUSRAPID. Personal Little (née Mogford) was born on 1 January 1933. Little grew up in Hamilton, Victoria and attended Mount St Michael's College and Hamilton High School, Victoria. Between 1968 and 1971, she undertook a social work degree at Adelaide University. She has four children and separated from her husband after 15 years. After a short illness, Little died peacefully after a short battle with cancer on 17 August 2014 at Mary Potter Hospice in Adelaide, South Australia. Robert McCullough OAM (12 October 1931 – 9 January 2017) was a leading Australian sport administrator particularly in the area of disability sport. He was President of the Australian Paralympic Federation and the International Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Sports Federation. Personal McCullough was born on 12 October 1931. He was an aircraft engineer and worked for the Australian Public Service. He died on 9 January 2017, aged 75. Sport administration career In 1983, McCullough was the inaugural Chairperson of the North Queensland Sports Foundation. He held this position until 1986. Ronald James Finneran Order of Australia, OAM (born 1944) is an Australian Paralympic athlete and sports administrator, from Merimbula, New South Wales. Skiing career Finneran was born in the Sydney suburb of Maroubra, New South Wales, Maroubra. He lost the full use of both his legs and his right arm after contracting polio aged about 20 months. He took up skiing in 1972 after a visit to the Thredbo, New South Wales, Thredbo Ski Resort and trained in the United States and Canada. He was Australia's only participant at the 1976 Winter Paralympics in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, where he marched in the opening ceremony. Marcus Einfeld
Marcus Richard Einfeld (born 22 September 1938) is a former Australian judge who served on the Federal Court of Australia and was the inaugural president of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission. In retirement, he served two years in prison after being convicted of perjury and perverting the course of justice. Einfeld studied law at the University of Sydney.
