Paolo Del Sera
Paolo del Sera (161722 September 1672) was a Florentine artist and art connoisseur of Venetian art who is best known for his correspondence with Leopoldo de 'Medici. Leopoldo De' Medici
Leopoldo de' Medici (6 November 1617 – 10 November 1675) was an Italian cardinal, scholar, patron of the arts and Governor of Siena. He was the brother of Ferdinando II de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. Biography Prince Leopoldo was born at the Palazzo Pitti in Florence, the capital of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany then ruled by his father, Grand Duke Cosimo II. His mother Maria Magdalena of Austria was a sister of Queen Margarita of Spain and Ferdinand II, Holy Roman Emperor. Leopoldo was educated under Jacopo Soldano, Father Flaviano Michelini and Evangelista Torricelli. When his brother was elected Grand Duke, Leopoldo acted as his advisor for manufactures, agriculture and trades. Leopoldo, a disciple of Galileo, took a real interest in the proceedings of the justly celebrated academy 'Del Cimento' (the test), signing its correspondence, following closely the work of Evangelista Torricelli da Modigliana, inventor of the barometer. Domenico Passignano
Domenico Passignano (1559 – 17 May 1638), born Domenico Cresti or Crespi, was an Italian painter of a late-Renaissance or Counter-''Maniera'' (Counter-Mannerism) style that emerged in Florence towards the end of the 16th century. Biography Cresti was born in Passignano in Val di Pesa, Passignano, currently a ''frazione'' of Barberino Tavarnelle about 30 km south of Florence, and was educated by the local Vallombrosan monks. He started his works in the stylized Tuscan manner, working with Giovanni Battista Naldini and Girolamo Macchietti. After travelling from Rome to Venice (1581–1589), he came under the influence of Tintoretto's style. He had traveled to Venice as an assistant to Federico Zuccari, who had employed him previously in the completion of Giorgio Vasari's ''The Last Judgement (Vasari and Zuccari), The Last Judgment'' on the ceiling of the dome of Florence Cathedral. Tiberio Tinelli
'' Portrait of Luigi Moli'' Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice. Tiberio Tinelli (1586 – 22 May 1639) was an Italian painter of the early- Baroque period, active mainly in his native city of Venice. He trained with Giovanni Contarini, a pupil of the late Titian. Tinelli then either worked under or emulated Leandro Bassano. He was well known for his portraits of aristocracy, merchants, and intellectuals in Venice, whom he often painted in historical dress. His small pictures of historical and mythological subjects were also popular. Some of his pictures found their way into the collection of Louis XIII, king of France, who knighted him with the order of Michael. He moved later in life in Florence. Domestic afflictions drove him into a state of despondency, causing him to commit suicide. Annunciation (Veronese, Uffizi)
''Annunciation'' is an oil-on-canvas painting, now in the Uffizi in Florence. It and ''The Martyrdom of Saint Justina'' were bought in Venice by Paolo del Sera, intermediary and agent for cardinal Leopoldo de' Medici in 1654. It is usually attributed to Veronese, though Giovanni Battista Zelotti, Adolfo Venturi and Arslan have attributed it to Giovanni Battista Zelotti, with Arslan initially suggesting it was a collaboration between Veronese and Zelotti. Fiocco argued it was an early work by Veronese, though Pallucchini's theory that Veronese painted it around 1555 (about the same time as '' Coronation of Saint Sebastian'') is now accepted by the majority of art historians.
