Enzo Paoletti
Enzo Paoletti (May 22, 1943 – January 17, 2018) was an Italian-American virologist who developed the technology to express foreign antigens in vaccinia and other poxviruses. This advance led to the development of vaccines against multiple disease-causing pathogens. Education Enzo Paoletti was born in Monti di Villa, Bagni di Lucca, Lucca, Italy on May 22, 1943. He emigrated with his family to New York in 1951. Paoletti received B.A. degree from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York in 1966 and he earned a Ph.D. from State University of New York at Buffalo, Roswell Park Division in 1971. Early in his graduate studies, Paoletti co-authored a paper that described, for the first time, RNA polymerase activity in vaccinia virus - a key finding noted by Dr. David Baltimore in his Nobel Lecture delivered in 1975. Roland Paoletti
Romano Roland Paoletti, CBE (23 April 1931 – 13 November 2013) was a British-Italian architect. He was best known for his work on the early stations for Hong Kong's Mass Transit Railway, and for commissioning the award-winning designs of the stations of London Underground's Jubilee Line Extension. He was described by the Architectural Review as "the Medici of London Transport". Early life and career Paoletti was born in London in 1931, at the City of London Hospital. His father was Italian and his mother French. The name Romano came from a church local to Lucca, Italy, where his father's family are thought to have lived for at least 700 years. His father was treated as an enemy alien in the Second World War and the family had to move to Scotland. Antonio Ermolao Paoletti (May 8, 1834 in Venice – December 13, 1912 in Venice) was an Italian painter, mainly of Venetian genre scenes, recalling Bamboccianti life of children and women, as well as sacred fresco work for churches in the Veneto. Antonio's father, Ermolao Paoletti, was a well known scholar and writer of Venice. He wrote a much cited expansive guide to its architecture, monuments, artistic works, and customs. He also wrote a dictionary of Venetian dialect. He was an engraver and painter, and was a professor at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice. Antonio attended course in the Accademia as a pupil of Pompeo Marino Molmenti, and as a colleague of the sculptor Antonio Dal Zotto and the Armenian painter and engraver Edgar Chahine. Gabriele Paoletti (born 11 April 1978) is a retired Italian football goalkeeper. Career In the summer of 2002, Paoletti was exchanged for Alberto Maria Fontana. In summer 2004, he joined Reggiana in co-ownership deal, for €0.5K. He also played in the Italian Serie A as backup keeper for Udinese and Messina. Pietro Paoletti (1801 in Belluno – October 23, 1847 in Belluno) was an Italian painter and engraver. Biography He took fresco training with Giovanni De Min. In 1827, he traveled to Rome on the recommendation of Count Leopoldo Cicognara, and there found patronage with Cardinal Placido Zurla in the court of Pope Gregory XVI. In Rome, he worked under the Neoclassic painter Camuccini. His skill as a fresco artist, put him in demand across the peninsula. Among his works are frescoes for the Basilica in the Abbey of Monte Cassino, the church of Santa Maria Formosa in Venice, and for many of the Torlonia properties in Rome including Palazzo Torloni in Piazza Venezia and Villa Torlonia in Rome (the latter had stories from Aesop's fables as well a portraits of artists seen below). He won thrice the Italian championships at Ferrara 1937, Terni 1941, and Viareggio 1942, and won the gold medal in the Bantamweight class at the 1942 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Breslau.
