Pandora's PlayHouse
''Pandora’s PlayHouse'' is the twelfth studio album by Sananda Maitreya (formerly Terence Trent D'Arby), released on March 15, 2021. A double album with 28 tracks, it was released on CD and as a digital download from his website. A single, "The Madhouse", was released as a download and streaming, ahead of the album. It also contains a tribute to his idol Prince. Speaking to ''The Times'', he said, "we definitely saw a lot of ourselves in each other." Maitreya wrote all the songs and played every instrument on every track, with the exception of three collaborations, the cover "Time Is on My Side" with Irene Grandi, "Reflecting Light" with The Avalanches and Vashti Bunyan, and "Pandora's Plight" with Antonio Faraò. Sananda Maitreya
Sananda Francesco Maitreya (born Terence Trent Howard; March 15, 1962), who started his career with the stage name Terence Trent D'Arby, is an American singer and songwriter who came to fame with his debut studio album, ''Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby'' (1987). The album included the singles "If You Let Me Stay", "Sign Your Name", " Dance Little Sister", and the number one hit "Wishing Well". Early life Terence Trent D'Arby was born Terence Trent Howard in Manhattan in 1962. His mother is Frances Howard, a gospel singer, teacher and counselor. Frances Howard married Bishop James Benjamin Darby, who became his stepfather and raised him. He took this stepfather's last name and later added the apostrophe. The Avalanches
The Avalanches are an Australian electronic music group formed in Melbourne in 1997. They are known for their studio albums ''Since I Left You'' (2000), ''Wildflower'' (2016), and '' We Will Always Love You'' (2020), as well as their live and recorded DJ sets. The group currently consists of Robbie Chater, Tony Di Blasi and Andy Szekeres. Jimmy Norman
Jimmy Norman (August 12, 1937 – November 8, 2011) was an American rhythm and blues and jazz musician and a songwriter. In his early career, Norman had a charting single of his own, "I Don't Love You No More (I Don't Care About You)", as well as performing session work with Jimi Hendrix, but he is better known as a lyricist and songwriter. He wrote the expanded lyrics of the song " Time Is on My Side", which became a hit for The Rolling Stones and was later re-recorded and produced by Stephen Vanderbilt featuring "St. Tropez" as the A side of a 45 released from the album ''Home'' throughout Europe. Norman composed a number of songs performed by well-known musicians including Johnny Nash and Bob Marley. Norman Meade
Jordan "Jerry" Ragovoy (September 4, 1930 – July 13, 2011) was an American songwriter and record producer. His best-known composition " Time Is on My Side" (written under the pseudonym of Norman Meade) was made famous by the Rolling Stones, although it had been recorded earlier by Kai Winding and Irma Thomas. Ragovoy also wrote " Stay With Me", which was originally recorded by Lorraine Ellison and made famous by Bette Midler in her film '' The Rose''. It was also performed by Mary J. Blige at the 49th Grammy Awards. He also wrote "Piece of My Heart" which became a significant hit for Big Brother and the Holding Company, featuring Janis Joplin. Antonio Faraò (born January 19, 1965) is an Italian jazz pianist. Career A native of Rome, Italy, Faraò earned a degree in 1983 from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan and performed in clubs as a teenager. Vashti Bunyan (born Jennifer Vashti Bunyan, 1945) is an English singer-songwriter. Beginning her career in the mid-1960s, she released her debut album, ''Just Another Diamond Day'', in 1970. The album sold very few copies and Bunyan, discouraged, abandoned her musical career. By 2000, her album had acquired a cult following; it was re-released and Bunyan recorded more songs, initiating the second phase of her musical career after a gap of thirty years. Irene Grandi (born 6 December 1969) is an Italian singer and songwriter. During her career she has sung in Spanish and has performed duets in German, French, Indian and in African languages, selling around 5 million records and earning 9 top-ten albums and 6 top-ten singles of which one number-one on the Italian music charts. Contemporary R&B (or simply R&B) is a popular music genre that combines rhythm and blues with elements of pop, soul, funk, hip hop, and electronic music.
