Pan-African Union For Social Democracy
The Pan-African Union for Social Democracy (french: Union panafricaine pour la démocratie sociale, UPADS) is a political party in the Republic of the Congo headed by Pascal Lissouba, who was President from 1992 to 1997. It has been the country's main opposition party since Lissouba's ouster in 1997. Pascal Tsaty-Mabiala has been Secretary-General of UPADS since 2006. Pascal Tsaty Mabiala
Pascal Tsaty Mabiala is a Congolese politician who has been the Secretary-General of the Pan-African Union for Social Democracy (UPADS) since 2006, as well as President of the UPADS Parliamentary Group since 2007. He stood as the UPADS candidate in the 2016 presidential election. Political career In the June–July 1992 parliamentary election, Tsaty Mabiala was elected to the National Assembly as a UPADS candidate. After the election, the Congolese Labour Party (PCT) formed an alliance with the Union for Democratic Renewal (URD), and together the two held a parliamentary majority. Ange (English: Angel) is a French progressive rock band formed in September 1969 by the Décamps brothers, Francis (keyboards) and Christian (vocals, accordion, acoustic guitar and keyboards). Since its inception the band's music has been inspired by medieval texts and fantasy. History Ange was initially influenced by Procol Harum and King Crimson, and their music was quite theatrical and poetic. Alphonse Poaty-Souchlaty (born 25 March 1941) is a Congolese politician who was Prime Minister of Congo-Brazzaville from 7 August 1989 to 3 December 1990 under President Denis Sassou Nguesso. Biography Poaty-Souchlaty was born in Kouilou Department in 1941, to Alphonse Souchlaty-Poaty the Elder (died March 24, 1946), ivoirier and traveler, and Alphonsine Ndoko Ntondo. Political career Poaty-Souchlaty was the minister of finance from 1976 to 1983. He served in the government as Minister of Trade and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises from 1986 to July 1989. Following the Fourth Ordinary Congress of the Congolese Labour Party (PCT) in late July 1989, he was appointed as Prime Minister on 7 August, succeeding Ange-Edouard Poungui. Parliamentary elections were held in the Republic of the Congo in 2002; the first round was held on 26 May and the second round on 20 June. The Congolese Labour Party (PCT) and its allies won a majority of seats in the National Assembly. Campaign A total of 1,239 people registered to stand as candidates in the election. On 11 May 2002, the Interior Ministry published the official list of candidates; 1,199 candidacies were validated, while 40 were rejected.
