Palmer Township is a township in Sherburne County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,414 at the 2000 census. History Palmer Township was originally called Briggs Township, for settler Joshua Briggs, and under the latter name was organized in 1858. The present name of Palmer was adopted a few years later, the maiden name of Joshua Briggs' wife. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.5 square miles (94.6 km), of which 34.9 square miles (90.4 km) is land and 1.6 square miles (4.1 km) (4.36%) is water. Divide County is a county in the U.S. state of North Dakota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,195. Its county seat is Crosby. History On November 8, 1910, election, the voters of Williams County voters determined that the county should be divided into a northern and a southern county. The vote was affirmative; the southern portion retained the Williams name; the newly created county was named "Divide", with Crosby as the seat. The county government was effected on December 9 of that year, and the county's boundaries have remained unchanged since that time. Most histories attribute the county name to its "division" from Williams County, though the county's location on the Laurentian Divide, separating runoff waters between Hudson Bay and Gulf of Mexico, may have been involved. It is the eight-largest municipality in the Lehigh Valley metropolitan area, which had a population of 861,899 and was the 68th-most populous metropolitan area in the U.S. as of the 2020 census.
