Palestinian Center For Rapprochement Between Peoples
Palestinian Center for Rapprochement between Peoples (PCR) is a non-profit and non-religious organization. The PCR is based in Beit Sahour under the aegis of the International Solidarity Movement. George Rishmawi is director of PCR. The group was established in 1988, then formally registered under the auspices of the Mennonite Central Committee in Jerusalem in 1991 and officially registered in the Palestinian Ministry of Interior in 2004. The PCR works to promote grassroots dialogue and joint work between Palestinians and people from different nationalities. Its main objective is to encourage peaceful solutions to further Palestinian nationalism through disabling existing stereotypes and prejudice. In addition, PCR works in the field of human rights and information dissemination ( International Middle East Media Centre, IMEMC). Beit Sahour
Beit Sahour or Beit Sahur ( ar, بيت ساحور pronounced ; Palestine grid 170/123) is a State of Palestine, Palestinian town east of Bethlehem, in the Bethlehem Governorate of the State of Palestine. The city is under the administration of the Palestinian National Authority. International Solidarity Movement
The International Solidarity Movement (ISM) is a Palestinian-led movement focused on assisting the Palestinian cause in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. ISM is dedicated to the use of nonviolent protests and methods only. The organization calls on civilians from around the world to participate in acts of nonviolent protests against the Israeli military in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. History It was founded in 2001 by Ghassan Andoni, a Palestinian activist; Neta Golan, a third generation Israeli activist; Huwaida Arraf, a Palestinian-American; and George N. The International Middle East Media Center (or IMEMC) is an independent news organization run by Palestinians living in the Palestinian territories, working together with international journalists, who report on events in both Israel and the Palestinian territories. The IMEMC is published in English so that an international audience has access to reports on events in the region as reported directly by local journalists. They report with a heavy pro pallastinain bias, and are often seen as a mindless anti-Israel blog. Ghassan Andoni
Ghassan Andoni ( ar, غسان أنضوني) (born 1956) is a native of Beit Sahour in the Bethlehem area. He is a professor of physics at Bir Zeit University, and a Palestinian Christian leader who advocates nonviolent resistance in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Andoni is co-founder of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), founder of the International Middle East Media Centre and director of the Palestinian Center for Rapprochement between Peoples (PCR). During the First Intifada Andoni was imprisoned for being involved in Beit Sahour’s tax revolt. In 2006, he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by the American Friends Service Committee along with Jeff Halper of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD).
